Walt/Laurie, have there been any further updates as to Linda and Mike's conditions? We're still praying for her to pull through.

Many folks have asked for an update on Mike and Linda. MRSTNT spoke with the family today. As you know my wife is a nurse and is very respectful of patient confidentiality so I wont go in to great detail, but in summary continued prayers for their recovery are needed. Its been nearly two months since the explosion, and both are still in the hospital. They are both a long way from putting this behind them and any positive thoughts that can be made on their behalf would be appreciated by all.

Thanks for the update. With good Dr's and the will to live they can do it.
Has anyone ever watched the safety Video: Remember Charlie ?
I had to watch it at a safety meeting, it's very powerful, but he goes into alot of detail about what he went through and the road to recovery. It's an extremely long, hard process. I hope both of them can pull through it.
Here's some info on the video:
Remember Charlie - 56 min
The Charlie Morecraft story has become a phenomenon in the OHS world. It tells of Charlie’s journey from death’s door following a refinery explosion, to his position as the world’s leading presenter on why we all should follow safety procedures precisely. The shortcut he took from standard procedures resulted in Charlie being burned over 50% of his body, five years in hospital, the loss of his family, the loss of everything he treasured.
Not just a title but a call to action, Remember Charlie captures the audience with a common language ("Accidents don't happen to me. Accidents happen to someone else.") With the audience on the edge of their seats, Charlie drives home the importance of following safety procedures. Everyone wakes-up to the high cost of an accident not only to themselves but to their family. Seldom are people confronted by real consequences of an abuse in safety practices. If you and your employees "Remember Charlie", you'll remember to follow safety procedures.

Wow, tears in my eyes and this happened a few years ago!
Your wife is amazing, the ability to think with a cool head under pressure is a rare one. To her it may be as natural as breathing, but it most certainly does not come naturally to everyone!!
If you have any updates on the husband and wife, I think many of us would be interested in them. Hoping for the best of news!!

Thanks for bringing this post back up. My wife is an amazing wife and powerfully strong woman when things go bad. The wife who was badly burned made a full recovery after many months in the hospital and numerous burn recovery surgeries. Unfortunately, her husband didnt make it. Although he was less severely burned from the initial blast, he had diabetes and some other medical pre-existing conditions which complicated his recovery. Infections set in over time and he didn't pull through.
We really don't go to Glamis any more, for several reasons, mainly because we spend so much time year round in Havasu, but one of the other factors is that my wife has never been able to fully relax there since that day. Even though she has seen some pretty terrible things in her years of nursing, including saving a man who tried to kill himself by driving his car into a passing train as she was parked behind him, the images of that day in Glamis still haunt her, and hanging out at Glamis has never been the same since.
Thanks again for the kind words. She is an amazing woman, and I love her dearly.

Wow, thats terrible news about the husband. I never would have thought. Have you ever considered taking your wife to dunes other than glamis? Perhaps dumont or even just get her away from the washes? I'm sure she would always be reminded of that day if she was in the washes but a change of scenery might do the trick
