There were everywhere, we have been camping down there for 15 years on T-day and have never seen so many, and now they have the fence also. So is there that much more illegals trying to cross under/over the fence vs before?

I am not being negative here, just asking why so much more enforcement after the fence goes up, I would think the fence would allow them to have less manpower, not more?
Personally, we camp about 100 yards from the fence at Plank road, have for more than 15 years, I love it. It slows people down on quads and buggies. Now if we can get the people that come in later in the weekend not to block most of the good entrance points back onto the road to be more aware, that would be great.

I didn't get a chance to run the full length of the fence yet...but I heard from some friends that there are still a few sections not finished?
I'm guessing the increased presence was to make sure no one tried to take advantage of the few remaining weak points and big crowds to try the "Blend in with the off roaders" move.

Did anyone stop to read the warning label on the white markers? I took a photo figuring I could read it later...but my cell phone camera sucks and it's illegible:

Then again...even the worst camera can occasionally turn out a decent photo if you work with it's limitations:

enforcement? the fence does that.
Dont confuse enforcement with manhours charged to the taxpayer.

When I got stuck trying to leave with my truck and trailer on Saturday, a Border Patrol agent stopped by and hopped out with his shovel and helped dig me out. This is while 3 Rangers passed by and didn't even slow down to look. Another one of the agents told us they are having problems with people cutting the fence. They said in 30 minutes a person can cut through the fence and get two vehicles through. I say the more agents the merrier. We ran the length of the fence. It starts a tthe canal by the bridge to Gordons and goes east to the Algodones crossing. There was one section they were still working on east of the dunes but that looked like it might have been one of the cut sections.

We camp at Buttercup on the other side of road from plank road. We had three rangers running through our camp with rifles or shot guns on T-day. Offered some turkey to them, but they were on a mission to track them foot steps. Kinda scary to think illegals could be hiding in your coach.

30 minutes with a plasma or OA torch is gonna bring about a lot of attention.
I wouldn't worry about it much.

Last weekend was the first time I had ever seen the fence. I thought it looked pretty impressive to me!

They sell ladders or rope in Mexico right? Only a fence isn't going to do anything to slow down the flow of people. It will put a dent in the vehicle crossings though.
You're still always going to need boots on the ground for enforcement.

I was told that sometime in the past couple of weekends a couple was busted picking up a couple of bags of something that was tossed over the fence. They were observed by agents. They were followed and arrested at there camp .
