OK I bought a cheap air powered grease gun from harbor freight and the it was more frustration than help. It kept losing prime, no matter what I did. I'm looking for the best grease gun to use with a needle to keep my CV's happy. Any suggestions?

battery powered suck for the needle I returned mine. The best is going to be a good brand name air one, like craftsman or snap on.

Agree with both. If you want auto I would go air, but get something good (Snap-On/Lincoln, etc)
Manual works great!

I have a Lincoln air grease gun and it works great. It has never lost prime. The only draw back I have found is when I grease the zerks on the trailer leaf springs. The old manual gun will build more pressure than the air gun to push the grease through the spring shackles.

I use the HF pneumatic grease gun and don't have any problems... It does take about 100 trigger squeezes to get it primed properly though.

I thought using any tools from horror fright was a lesson in frustration. That has been my experience anyway.

your problem was buying a tool at horror freight and expecting it to work.

I am on my third H F one the last one I tore apart to see what made it tic and looked like the rubber in the plunger was stuck in the cylinder and the spring pressure was not enough to return it. They seem to work for ont tube of greese and after they sit they get stuck. buy a new one keep the receipt box the old one and wait for the next trip and buy another (return)

Went to checkers bought a 12 volt gun with two batterys for 69 bucks. Works great, no issues with heavy grease through needle fitting as well even in cold temps up here. The orginal end on the hose sucked swapped that for a quality unit as with the needle greaser tip it would leak some around the zerk, new end problem solved. I was going to spend up to 300 for one, this one is fine plus a one year warranty from checkers. Bought my aluminum jask there as well . That would be after the costco one failed in about 1 month and the sears version was junk out of the box.
