crank bearing went out or something.. haven't fully taken it apart to assess the damage but im pretty sure its not gonna be good so im just gonna wait till the end of the season and re build the bottom end, possibly the top end too

o i know its bad
but i dont know if my whole motor needs to be re built or just the bottom end.. ill probably do the whole thing anyway because i dont know how it was ridden with the previous owner.. he was an older guy and kept it pretty clean but you never know how it was ridden.. he took it all apart and powder coated the frame black so he could do the yellow plastics and old school graphics but anyways we will see

I was joking with you.
I would start by splitting the case and inspect the head, cylinder and case.

might as well save for a complete motor if your going to run it like that till the end of the season. if a bearing goes so will the side case and on a yamaha you cant buy one side of the inner case, you have to buy both sides. machined specific. the yamaha you have to split cases. could have already lost the head if the cam journals are what are wearing. Id at least remove the cam cover and inspect and clutch assembly. you would easily save a grand if you tore it apart first rather then try to run it for the rest of the season. depending where you are when it goes, it could give you a trip to the ER or a new bike since you'll probably break it when your out in the big dunes and no one is able to tow back a 2 wheeler. use your head...
