The Power Plant... 2002 Suzuki GSXR 1000 150 RWHP

The Recipient... 2003 Yamaha Raptor
the Suzuki Z400 would have been the choice of frames,
but Z parts are hard to come by... Raptor's are a dime a dozen, go figure

The jig to hold it all straight once the frame cutting begins...
yes, there will be many more frame supports added to the jig before cutting begins

The Beginning...
yeah, I know it fits right now,
but the frame still needs to be cut and modified to get everything to line up nicely

And let's not forget the sound you all will be hearing...
You will know when I am coming... People will be miles away and say there's Crash

And shelves full of parts to put it all together after the modification's are complete...

The frame cut, and the motor mounted...

The exhaust and subframe are next on the list. The stock GSXR header will be cut off somwhere just below the mounting flanges and the exhaust custom made from there, back to the can. It will be a tight fit, but have someone lined up for the challenge. The subframe, will be solid on the right side, and bolted in on the left to allow the motor to be removed from the frame for any maintenance.

Below, you can see it will be very tight fit for any kind of airbox... still working the details out on that part. But will find a way. Anyone do any custom aluminium sheet metal work, that wants to hook me up?

As it sits now...

Still need to find someone to make a radiator for me and I need someone who can lengthen these oil cooler lines about 3 or 4 inches... Anyone?

That thing is gonna be a beast Doug! Remind me to be nowheres near you when you wack open the throttle at the drags. On second thought, you probobly won't have to. I'll be able to hear it from a mile away! Looks very good man. That's alot more project than I could ever hope to finish. Kudos on the work so far.

For the oil lines why not just cut the ends off, throw the middle piece away, and hose clamp on some braded line.

It doesn’t look like enough room between the carb intake and the frame.

Did you ever decide on how long of an extended swing-arm you are going to use?
And if I were you I’d use +2 a-arms with zero preload shocks up front. It won’t be much but it will help a little in keeping the front tires in contract with the ground while accelerating when dunning.

Looks like you have ten times the amount of work in the jig as you do the bike.

Just kidding CRASH, bike looks good so far. My main concern is that airbox. Have somebody good build one right. You'll be glad you did. Try Jeff Davis Fabrication, he's down near you guys I think.

Did the engine originally come with carbs? I got a 02 750 gsxr engine that I want to play with, but was wondering if I could get rid of all the wiring and fuel injection and just go with a simple carb set up. Nice bike, engine looks clean and bad @ss.

It should go farther than any regular quad with that tank, but not sure I am even going to use the stock tank yet...

It's fuel injected, has sensors in the stock airbox... Going to look into it more, but probably going to need the airbox to prevent performance losses.

Engine was always fuel injected, I don't see why you couldn't go to carbs... Would probably have to do some serious mods to the wiring harness to confuse the CDI and all that. But I'm sure it is possible... But, I have to ask why would you want to???

My son has a Banshee with a Turboed 900cc Honda road bike motor. We went with the turbo to eliminate the 4-carbs and all those exh. pipes.
He has a real long swing arm and it dunes like a champ. The motor made 168HP.
I will post some pictures, took some New Years at Olds but they didn't come out
as good as I wanted.

Some Links to look at for parts and ideas
http://secure.cartsvr.net/catalogs/categories.asp?catid=2486http://peterdmotorsports.com/either one or both of the above sites has a bolt on plate that will adapt the oil out and in to a -an style fittings.
I would also get the Koenig oil pan. The kit comes with an oil pickup that is on a pivot so that it follows the oil flow as you go up and down the dunes.

I was thinking maybe you could run 2 radiators instead of having a $$$ custom one made. One in the stock location under the plastic and one right behind the steering shaft in front of the header(just like on a stock GSXR) on the frame rail that runs down. A VFR750-800 & VTR1000 has two radiator(one on each side of the bike, or if it would fit 01-06 RVT1000(RC51) it has inceased cooling compared to a VTR/VFR of about a pint.
They usually can be found on ebay or salvage shops in pairs with hoses. probably would make a clean install, without the $$$$$.
Just my .02
