This past weekend I was at the dunes and I got to see this Hayabusa buggy and it caught my eye. Steve is the owner, it took him 4 years to build this buggy himself, he did have some help on a few parts. I just wanted to post some pictures up. This buggy dosen't have reverse. Sorry, I didn't get any pictures of the back.

Sweet ride,is it me or is the clutch and brake pedals really close together?I wish I had the skills and tooling to build something like that.

Nice car and it's really cool that he did it himself. Not my favorite color but then again, it's not my car!

I watched the car at the drags, for being non turboed the car is very fast. Watched it dune and seemed to handle very nice and stable as well. I for one was impressed as well, nice car and thumbs up to Steve.

This is a good question, in fact I meant to ask Steve about that. Good thing I got his ph #, so I just called him about it. The two pedals, the one closet to the gas paddle would be the front brakes; the other pedal is the back brake. Steve wanted them separate but he can mash the front and back together. The clutch is closer to the wall, it dosen't really show up in that picture. Yes Steve really did a great job on this buggy and I thought it deserved some attention. Opps looking at the picture, I labeled the brakes wrong. Danget tomorrow 12/17/2008, I will even be older.

On top of the scoop, is the fill cap for the gas tank. Steve used the same fill cap, that is on a Hayabusa motorcycle gas tank, I thought that was a nice touch. I like to see other peoples ideas on buggies.

Pretty sweet. I'm usually more a fan of the bigger cars, but this one looks like alot of fun.

Almost has a Drakart look to it. Very nice buggy. I wonder the reason or advantage of those dual brake pedals as opposed to a regular single pedal with a proportioning valve and turning brakes. Kinda looks like a novel concept but a bad idea to me. I would hate to be in a situation where I grabbed too much front brake and end up crashing. IMHO I see zero advantges to that brake setup. Nice buggy besides that. I even dig the colors!!

I asked Steve about that, he said he came up with the dual brake pedals because lets say your on a quad going up a big hill and dont make it up, get stuck facing up. When you start to come down the hill back wards, you would want to use the front brake verses the back brake because you would flip backwards. I never thought of that, makes since. I have been in that position maybe one or two times on a quad, but never a buggy.

Well...I will give him that. That is an excellent idea. Been plenty of times when using only the front brake has kept me from flipping a quad over. So I guess when you drive that buggy you just step on both of them unless you get on a technical trail then you have the option of front or rear only for different reasons. OK......cool!!

They run a similar setup in CORR race cars but when you push the front pedal it automatically pushes the rear brakes as well. It lets you throw the car sideways by only using the rear brakes.

UPDATE.....Steve called me tonight and said that this buggy made it into the Sept Oct issue of Sand Sport magazine page # 26. I know a great looking buggy when I see one. I must find a issue of the Sand Sports magazine here in Phoenix. Good going Steve to a awsome Busa buggy.
