I noticed last time out, that sometimes when the Generator was running the lights would flicker for a few minutes, then it would stop, and all would be good.It wouldn't happen all the time, and it didn't matter wether there was a load on it or not.Is this the begining of the end for my converter?I have a 05 Keystone Raptor 5er,was thinking about swapping out the converter for a better unit anyways.Maybe this is the excuse I need. Thanks for any help.

Mine did the exact same thing when the dealer had it for a month, when I picked it up.... I also have a raptor.
Batteries where almost dead. After I let it charge for a little while it stopped. I keep it plugged in and have never seen the problem again. Not sure if it helps but Thats what caused mine.

Capt, thanks for the reply,I was thinking that it may be even a lose ground. It is a new battery that I had in it.What get's me is that it doesn't do it all the time.

Usually this is caused by a regulator going out. This regulator is designed to keep the current steady when the load changes and the generator speed fluctuates.
One question I have is does the genny surge or is it running smooth? If it surges it will over work the regulator fluctuating up and down.
One of the worst things you can do to a regulator is to leave high amp appliances turned on when you turn on or off the genny. When the genny is winding down the regulator is amping up to keep the voltage level and over time kills the regulator.
Just saying!!

Jeff, thanks for the reply. The genny was running smooth, either if the lights were flickering or good.About the only thing that I would leave on either during start-up or shut-down would be the TV.Thanks again.

We've been experiencing the same thing. We spent 8 nights in it recently and in the evenings when I'd turn the genny on, after awhile the lights would flicker, then stop then again flicker for another 30 seconds or so then stop. I'd play with the lights and/or load while it was doing it and nothing would change it. The only thing that would have been drawing was maybe the converter charging the batteries?

Just a bump... My converter crapped out and was causing issues like above^^^^
Changing the converter out now.

How do you know the convertor is bad?
My lights also flicker but everything seems to work fine. No surging either.

Check the water in batteries and put a turn tighter on all ground wire lugs to frame, you might give a turn on all hot side connections as well I have found the RV builders buy components and it most often lies in the assembly process (The damn burrito truck showed up) and lost there place in the moment of salsa induced chow down!
good luck with it

Changed out 2 of the 4 6v batteries. still was happening. Did a hydro test(?) on cells... other 2 good. Info unit in trailer says batteries are working then 2 sec later get a flicker, on off syndrome. Go to start genny and it fires right up with no hesitation.
Pulled apart and watched the converter... converter would shut off and turn on all by itself.. lights flickered when converter wasnt working... worked fine when converter is working.. like its shorted out
