OK sports fans, I am a yamaha man, I own a warrior, YFZ, and raptor, I dont have anything against honda, so settle down...lol, I dont have anything against any bikes, just the Yamaha's worked out better for me, but I do have one question for all you Bombadier sp?. people.

What is the difference between the bikes? Am I just stoopid and it is the same bike, is it the Baja DS650? someone please enlighten me. thanks

and yes I know I spelt stoopid wrong, I like it better that way. lol

Weight, price and bells and whistles.
Baja...heavier, cost's more for the extra whistles icon_biggrin.gif

basically it is the same exact bike, and one has more stuff on it, skid plates, etc. right, that is what I understood.?
Bronc-O-Boy11
Yup....prob be happier with the baja in the dunes
SHOCKER
Ds650 is set up like a basic bike, baja has some extras for baja racing type stuff
Bad Habit
Baja has additonal;

Shock covers
Hand guards (good aluminum ones)
Tach
Reinforcing ring on wheels
Additional lights (the best stock lighting setup out there)
Different color scheme

They now have a Baja X version. I think the only additional thing is a set of nerfs. But I'm not 100% on that.

I have a new 2004 DS650 baja Bad habit is correct with all extra bells and whistles that you get with one more thing added the front shocks are gas charged with threaded shaft to adjust the spring pressure. Which means it does not matter how much you weight is you can fully adjust the suspension to what ever fits you. The back shock is set up the same way but it is the same on the regular DS.
THE BOMB
Get the regular DS, spend the extra money on what the DS really needs...pipe, new rev control box, bigger carb, open K&N, if you want extra lights-pick up some at wal-mart, or a nice set of PIAAS, both bikes have the 260 watt stator!

The regular DS is a better deal...unless you want to run the desert, who needs shock covers and extra skid plates in the dunes? I keep looking for ways to lighten mine without loosing strength, if the skid plate wasn't plastic I'd throw it away!

My DS also has threaded shaft on front springs......this sets the ride height on the bike...nothing else.....squashing a spring does not change it's compression ratio. This is nothing new on the Baja or any other quad! This point has been covered to great extent on the sand rail board.

Thanks for all the responses, but I am not in the market for a new quad, I just wanted to be more educated about them, from people who own them, I try to be open minded about all makes and models, to me it doesnt matter if its a ford or chevy, honda or yamaha, as long as whoever owns it is having fun with it, that is all that matters. I have done way to much to my raptor to even consider another bike, and I am so pleased how it turned out, the bike is made to me, all shocks have been made to my weight and ride style, along with extra stuff, and I did it all myself, I installed everything on my bike, which makes me more happy because it even works... thanks again, if you still have more input I would like to hear it.

maybe its the eyeballs, I am still thinking of things to do to make it stand out of the crowd, there is the standard, chrome or polish everything, and things like that, but I want to add more personal items like the eyeballs, and pay more attention to detail,

thanx for the compliment.

I didnt meant to come across like I was going to buy one, but I do have a friend that is going to buy something, so I can relay the info to him, also, if he asks me what bikes do what, I can be more informative, and he can make a better decesion, I have a raptor and absolutely love it, but it may not be the bike for him, see where I am going, I also have formed a different opinion of them, now when I see them in the dunes, I wont think why the hell would someone want that heavy of a quad, its like a tank, they really arent much heavier, only about 40lbs. or so, they just look awkward, but they might not ride like they look like they would. thanks.
