I know some of you wheeler guys have V-shaped paddles on your bikes. I am getting new paddles this week and I have always had straight paddles. I like to get the rear wheels loose and then turn and get on just 2 wheels to cut the turn harder. How will V-shaped paddles affect this, will it be a big difference? I really do not want to change my riding style because I like it icon_biggrin.gif

Any info would be appreciated.

If you don't want to change your riding style then stick to the striate paddles. Riding with the V-paddles will make the rear end come around faster so you won't need as much body English to ride.

my concern is that it may not be as a stable ride as the striate paddles give you. To me it feels like the rear end wants to swing around all the time...

All this rear end stuff swing'n around, sounds gay. Stop it and buy "straight" ones. laughing.gif

i think u answered your own question. dont want to change your style, stick with the straight paddles.

all ive ever had on my 86 are sand sharks and im planning on switching to a hauler shortly.

just curious, what size and paddle do u run now?
RRon3
I run the sand devils(8 paddle) on 10 inch douglas rims(blue label) rims right now. I do like the cut of them, not too much paddle. The haulers would be too much bite on a stock swing arm, I can barely keep the front end down now. I like the sand devils, but after 4 seasons(at least 15 trips a season) the tires are done and I have tacoed the rims before so they are ready to be replaced.

From the info so far, I think I will stick with the straight paddles. Thanks everyone.

Toy Collector runs Sand Sharks on an 85 250 R.  His bike rides pretty nice and has extended swing arm, so maybe the sharks help it turn a little better. Picture in the Banshee Steering post.I don't know how to cut n paste icon_biggrin.gif

They're actually Sand Skate II's. icon_biggrin.gif I'll post the pic for you and tell you how tonight... after I find out about your steering problem icon_biggrin.gif

In my opinion, as APB pointed out they do help it turn in any case. If I slide the rear end out they keep it "controllable" while still keeping the ability to just toss it around. My brother had a set of straight paddles on his first trip out with his completed bike (basically the same exact bike, just slower)... I did not like how it rode at all... he ended up putting SS II's on it as well. I won't use anything else.

They also allow for the wonderful ability to completely bury your friend with a little "blip" of the throttle. Hate it when that happens. laughing.gif

Here's a pic... not sure how much is visible...

SHOCKER
If you are worried about changing your riding style then go with straight paddles

I've only used V paddles in the sand.....but the quad i was riding barely had enough power to pull its self around hehe

Like everyone said...the V's turn much better! But...you loose a LOT of traction with the V shaped paddles!!! I agree...i think you should go straight!!! icon_cool.gif

I've got 8 paddle Haulers on my '85, stock length swingarm, bored 4x over, piped, etc....etc... It does take a little more finesse to keep the front end down, but I love 'em!! burnout.gif rollsmile.gif
