For those of you that want to help, but don't have the time to attend meetings, here is the way to get your 2cents in, and let the BLM know where you stand!

This Flow Chart shows how the process works from start to finish. The scoping report has already been done, and you can read the report right here.

As you can see from the flow chart, the next thing coming up is to draft the new ramp and get it published.

The next thing important to US coming up is the 90 day comment period!!!

From the scoping report:

Although BLM welcomes input at any time during the planning process, the next official public comment period will be open upon publication of the ISDRA Draft RAMP and Draft EIS, which is anticipated to be released to the public in spring 2009. The draft document will contain a range of management alternatives for ISDRA public lands administered by the El Centro Field Office, including a "No Action" alternative and a "Preferred" alternative. A Notice of Availability (NOA) will be published in the Federal Register followed by a 90-day public comment period. Copies of the ISDRA Draft RAMP and Draft EIS will be distributed to elected officials, regulatory agencies, and interested members of the public. The document will also be available on-line at the El Centro Field Office website: http://www.blm.gov/ca/st/en/fo/elcentro.html Public meetings will be held during the 90-day comment period which will be announced through local news media at least 15 days prior to the event.

So what can you do? Start putting your thoughts together on paper (on on the computer screen most likely) so you are armed and ready to send in your comments when the 90 day comment period opens!

Well writen, well thought out, and well meaning letters are very much appricated durring this period. Letters that start out with: "Listen you eff*ing idiots..." will most likely go in the trash, or even worse, just make us all look really bad! Really, it's the best time to let the BLM know how you feel about what matters to you in the dunes.

So keep checking the BLM web site for the Drafts to be issued. Get started NOW on what you want to say (spring will be here in a hurry), and get you voice heard on the things that matter to you.

I hope this helps everyone!

Another really simple thing is to pick up someone else's trash in addition to your own. And I am not talking about an official Glamis clean up day.

Make it a G lifestyle.

It is not hard. Might make you mad (it does me), but it is super practical, easy, and it is clearly what mother G needs. SHE will thank you.
