We have 2 dirtbikes and 2 quads...all registered. We have flags...what else do we need? I've read something about passes? Were staying in North KOA BTW. Thanks!

You are 40 miles from Mammoth Wash Dunes. 55 miles from Gecko. If you are riding at and around the KOA you will need nothing else. If going to Glamis, you will need a week pass. Don't bother with the paddles, you will have nothing left by the time you get to Mammoth! You are staying at the wrong place. Cancel your reservation and drive directly to Glamis. You will find somewhere to camp. Get your pass in Brawley. You will see signs where to buy.
MHP
No insult intended here

Helmets on your head anytime you are on your bike(s) riding around,
Some people claim that you might need to bring photo ID and a copy of bike(s) registration while you ride.

I always wondered about that place, seems nice but the name and the billboards, advertising, etc., are a bit misleading.

It's actually a fun place to stay. New restaurant, ride right out of camp to Colorado River. Canal Road takes you to Mammoth and on to Glamis, past Slab City (Into the Wild Movie). They have 9 hole dirt/sand golf course that is more fun than I ever imagined it would be (beer). It's all offroad, no sand.

I agree that its a nice place however it has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH GLAMIS!!!! Their name is misleading as all hell and they should change it to "Salton Sea KOA" which is exactly what they are! Then we wouldnt have peeps like this guy here thinking that he was going out to Glamis when he's actually far far away from the place!

I think the confusion is exactly the point of the name. Draw in the customers and let them figure it out on their own. They will still have great time though.

The ride to the sand ain't half bad! 25cheers.gif I say we all meet up again next year with a chase truck with paddles and fuel for the ironman day.
