ONE-A-DAY
I passed my non-commercial Class B driving test today (motorhome endorsement). Pretty nerve wracking actually, took about an hour an half. First up is the technical skills in the parking lot driving around cones, backing into spots, etc., followed by the drive test. You can get 45 points off before you fail, I got 8. Where they got me was.........

- pulling over to park against the curb, didn't turn my wheels into the curb
- coming over a rise before proceeding down a hill I didnt pump my air brakes 5 times to make sure they worked and held pressure

Just a couple of things she didnt like, but all in all, glad its done. It was about a 20 mile loop or around town and freeway driving, backing in and out of driveways, etc. They never comment on what you are doing right or wrong, they just make little notes, so your sweating bullets the whole time.

What's the difference between class A non commercial and class B non commercial? Did you have the trailer attached when you did the test?

I have my Arizona commercial class A license. The testing was pretty easy except for the physical air brake test. Its 7 steps and if you miss one you fail.

Congrats on your license!

Worst driving I ever did was during my Class A commercial test. The tester must have been in a really good mood. He actually told me i don't drive well when I'm frustrated laughing.gif

I have a Class A CDL commercial driving license. Getting mine was the easiest. I was grandfathered in. Started driving trucks in hi school. When they required everyone to get formal Class A's (a while ago) all I had to do was prove I had driven trucks for 2 years and I was in. I have drivers now and some really struggle with the testing. Good job on the test Walt.

Non commercial Class A allows you to drive over 40 feet and tow more than 10000...............Non Commercial Class B allows you to drive a "housecar" over 40 feet and tow up to 10000. Class A the drive test is with trailer, class B is without. The skills test was stressful. We walked the course first, she gave me all of the hand signals to follow. You have to do all of the maneuvers, forward and back, loading dock backing in, angled back ins, and when you are done with the course you have to bring the coach to a stop with the front bumper of the moho stopped within an 18" wide box, same with backing up. You cant stop short and inch up, you have to roll to a stop and cant restart. On the back up stopping test within the 18" box, she says "do you you have a rear mounted camera", yeah? "turn it off".
