It had been awhile since I charged the cart which is a 48volt EZGO. I went to plug it in and the charger would not come on. I checked all the connections and for corrosion but everything looked fine. I checked the voltage in the batteries and it was 12, really low. Is it so low that it will not kick the charger on? I say this because I noticed a third wire in the charger handle, maybe it acts as an exciter? The fuse on the charger is good, that is the one you can see on the cover. Mind you the last time I plugged it in no issues. If the problem is the low voltage how can I get around it? Thanks in advance. moof.gif

Cale, use a multimeter and probe the charger connection. Might want to take a look at the connection point on the cart to the batteries too. Besure there is no corrosion. Call me when you get a chance.

It acts like a safety cut off that prevents the cart from accidentially being moved when the charger is plugged in.

If the switch is bad it also won't allow the cart to charge.

Bypass it or replace it for about $5.00.

Did you open up the charger and check the internal fuses(some have more than 1).

i had the same problem, had to charge each individual battery, then plug in the charger and it will turn on

I ended up using a jumper to bypass the switch. It kicked on and seems to be working fine. The switch didn't seem to be the problem though because now it works as in turning on and shutting off. Where can I find the switches if I ever need to buy one? I did open up the charger but I had downloaded the schematics and it only shows one fuse. Come to think of it, I'm going to go out and plug it in and see what happens. tongue.gif

The batteries are to low. You have to force charge the batteries separately.
