Not sure if this really belongs in here since it is not related directly to Glamis, but since it could make it's way out here if something like this gets a hold anywhere I thought I'd share.

Amends the School Code to provide that school districts must provide instruction in relation to the laws regarding the operation of all-terrain vehicles and off-highway motorcycles in grades kindergarten through 12 and may include the instruction in social studies, American government, driver education, or other appropriate courses of study. Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code to prohibit any use of all-terrain vehicles or off-highway vehicles on roads. Provides that the Secretary of State may suspend a person's driver's license for 6 months for a violation of provisions relating to the illegal use of all-terrain vehicles and off-highway motorcycles on streets and riding an all-terrain vehicle or off-highway motorcycle as a passenger. Provides that it is illegal to operate an all-terrain vehicle or off-highway motorcycle if the operator is under the age of 16, does not have a valid driver's license, or is not wearing a properly fitted helmet secured to the person's head. Provides that a person must demonstrate knowledge of all-terrain vehicle and off-highway motorcycle laws on the written examination for a driver's license, and provides that information relating to all-terrain vehicle and off-highway motorcycle laws must be contained in publications of the "Rules of the Road" by the Secretary of State and "Laws for Youth" by the Legislative Research Unit.

I could be wrong but, after reading the individual statues.
They are only trying to pass a law making it illegal to ride an all-terrian vehicle on a roadway if under the age of 16 or not in possision of a valids driver license.
They are also trying to incorporate a helmet law but only for minors. (Even if they are a passanger)
They also want the Driver education programs to educate people on the laws of the state regarding all terrian vehicles.

I hope i'm right, but I got a headache reading what I read. But who knows I going to sell my Honda 50 on the Black Market when my son grows out of it. Because of stupid laws they pass and there value will go up now.

There is a group very similar to MADD that has been trying to get this passed for years. They are all moms that have lost their kids to ATV accidents. They have never gotten over their loss.

wtf!! so if they cant right atv's and dirt bikes they just want them to sit inside the house and play video games or go out and destroy peoples property to burn off some energy. This is why this country is going to hell, to many people telling us how to live our lifes!!

I tried to contact em and got no reply. Then about a year later, one of em calls me concerning a post I made on DuneSafe! She left a message, I called her back, and she was just too busy to talk.

I feel so bad about anyone loosing a child, but these women have issues, and they have no intention of giving up, utill they get the laws passed that they want!!!

WOW is all I can really say. I'm sorry for there deaths. But alot of those deaths could have been avoided by a little more interaction by some of the parents. Letting kids ride bikes that are just too much bike for them was a factor in alot of those deaths. I believe we all as parents have the responsibility of teaching our kids responsibility of riding. I have a 6yr old and a 12 yr old and neither of them are allowed to ride unless I'm around.

If you cant pick it up off it's side you cant ride it. I will die by that rule so they dont have to.

I have 2 kids who ride and my wife and I ride. I have been riding since I was 8 my father tought me rules and I had to abide by them , he tought me skills and safety and some I learned on my own. 90% of the kids on that site were riding double or on an atv WAY to big for them I am not placing blame I pray i never have to go thru that or anyone else for that matter, if we teach proper habbits and safety and monitor kids alot of this will go away. There are however the other people that put thier 10 yearolds on a raptor 700 and say have fun be back in an hour there should be some NOT SO COMMON SENSE applied to bad we all dont have it.

I love the rule if you cant flip it over you cant ride and if you cant get it unstuck you cant ride.

I hav ewaited for 20 plus minutes for my 9 yr old to push his quad out with a little help cause we all need it from time to time...

Those women have selected the best time frame to show such studies in their favor...during an economic upswing and when extreme sports were "the thing to do."

I'm sure somewhere after 2006, those numbers declined as many people can't afford our rather expensive hobby anymore.

LOL I have video of my son trying to get his tire out of a rut. Must be 40+ minutes long. My arm was tired holding the camera up for so long.
