Im looking to upgrade to a Kodiak style class C. Is there anything that I need to know? what to look out for, stay away from, do they get stuck at the sight of sand? Brands? I will be towing a 20ft enclosed Sandtek trailer. Thanks for any input.

I've got a really nice Seneca 35GS. We really love it. Don't get me wrong, it's the got the normal RV things that do go wrong, but it's REALLY comfortable. Tows nicely, I've got a 22' Sport Trailer w/30 gallons of fuel, and 50 gallons of water. I generally only carry 4-5 bikes in it, that is until I find the right buggy, hint, hint, hint, and various camping gear. I would definitely recommend them, just not the dealer or repair facility, which is Richardson's, they blow. Right now is the time to buy an RV. A guy at work was telling me that he saw a New?, Seneca, unknown size or options, for $89K, wholly poop that's cheap. I would do it again.

Do they get stuck easily?

Oh yea, that. I've been stuck a couple of times, only once was serious. I could have gotten out easier, but the jacks weren't working too well that trip, so it took and hour or so to get out. I think that I have a picture of it somewhere. It was pretty good. I had to do a lot of cribbing on the jacks and a bottle jack to get some firewood under the rear wheels. I think it's going to be the same as any class "A" or "C" of equal weight and/or length.

Whats the secrete to not getting stuck? I never cared with the truck and toyhauler because you just air down and throw it in 4X4 and it gets out of anything. But that not the case with a class C

Don't slow down and stay away from the bushes, it's soft around them.
I have a gasser class A, and have been stuck a few times, I was always able to lift myself out with the leveler jacks
and get something solid under the tires.

We bought a used Seneca 35 GS in December and love it so far. With three slides it's very spacious and drives great. We tow a 16' utility trailer and you don't even know it's there. Two trips to Glamis and we haven't been stuck yet. There was a nice one for sale in Sierra Vista that was advertised on Phoenix craigslist. If you're interested and can't find it let me know and I'll dig up the phone number for you. Thusfar I'm very impressed with the Seneca.

Thanks for all of the feedback. So will the jacks lift it high enough to put boards under the tires?

It should. You can get the wheels in the air on flat ground. Should also help if you're stuck. It just depends on how stuck. We looked at a lot of options and found this to suit our needs best. We previously had an Eclipse toyhauler that we loved. I'm amazed at how easy the Seneca drives down the road compared to the truck and trailer combination.

Seneca all the way. We love ours, we took it to St. Anthony, ID last year towing a 22' Enclosed with LT Rail, 2 Kids Quads and alot of gear for a week in the dunes and it towed great! Easy to get around town in it and knock on wood we haven't got stuck yet just keep it movin and no sharp turns.
Good time to buy one of these that's for sure.

We love ours. Soft sand? Lock the rear diff and let the Michelin mud/snow tires spin. towing is a litlle on the light side - 40K. Seriously though, class C diesel is a nice way to go.

I know. I just wanted to show my chit off. Class C diesel in any size is a nice option though - they look cool.

Found them. I figure if you can't laugh at yourself, then who can you laugh at. Also, to those who don't think there's any soft sand in Ocotillo, WRONG. I had to use cribbing under the jacks and lift a little, then use cribbing under the bottle jack so that I could add more to the MH jacks. Back and forth w/each 3-4 times and voila, I had enough room to build up a nice base w/fire wood under the tires to get out. It was quite the ordeal. BTW, as I started digging, the jacks would start sinking more. The rear of the MH was touching the sand, that's why I had to dig that long trough, and as I dug, I could SEE the MH sinking,....OH poop!!!!! Meanwhile my buddy's wife is taking all of these ego damaging pictures. Nothing a couple of cold ones couldn't fix afterward.

Some of my friends with class A's complain about when they are driving and if its cold out side its the same temp inside and the same when its hot out. Is this the same with the class c? does the a/c and heater work good for the driver / passenger?

I second EffenAye about Richardson's RV and their poor service! I will never buy from them again because of their Riverside Repair facility. I still remember the Manager's name (Gil) from the Riverside repair facility and how he said they would only repair three broken things on my Jayco Talon ZX Toyhauler at a time. I bought my first Jayco Toyhauler from them and I will never go there again. I argued with them until they finally gave in!! A guy in our group also bought a Seneca from Richardson's in Riverside and had the same problems with them too! He ultimately threatened to have a huge banner made saying "Richardson's Service Sucks" and was going to hang it on the side of his Seneca at Glamis. Finally they fixed his problems, although when he picked his motorhome up; it was incredibly dirty and unwashed.

We purchased a Seneca in 07, we tow a 28' enclosed with buggy, rhino, towo quads and lots of race fuel, only been stuck once, but it was my fault I stopped and tried to back up. it was our first trip out and I just leveled it out right there. I dumped 5 gal of fresh water in front each set of rear tires and drove out. we love the coach, and would recommend it to anyone. we bought at Richardsons, and had no problems, our salemans name was Clarence, and was very professional. There are some great deals right now. Good Luck

My dad had that problem with his Class A but I have not experienced that with my Seneca / Class C
The class A's are alot more opened up in the front cab area than the class C's might have something to do with it and I think they ventilate them different for some reason.

I purchased are first toyhauler (Ragen) from Richardsons and went back and purchased our Seneca from them also and always had good service but I do have to admit the last time I had the Seneca in when I picked it up it wasn't washed and I thought that was kind of un-professional.
