On my old beam car I could feel the front end flex, and the feel the roof flex by holding on to the roof. The roof panel and the bar would move oposite each other. I had one crack in the upper roof over the years. Point being is the only reason that much force is transfered up there is the suspension was limited and making the frame absorb the impacts instead of the suspension.
So make sure his suspension is setup right. If that car is bottoming a lot that could be tweaking the frame and transferring load to odd places.
I hear you, and he has it set up pretty well, we re-sprung it over the last couple seasons and he flys. He says it still bottoms the rear at the bottom of a dune when he's haulin but 4th gear clamped through the whoops on sand highway and it stays on top and goes straight, not bad for 2.0's w/rezzies.
