With each year the memories fade,
makes me sad as they slip away..
I miss him so, can't even explain,
I still tear up and feel some pain..
He'll always be daddy and remain in my heart,
the moments we shared together, we shall never part..

Jerry Otis 1940-1996

My dad was quite a charater, always had something funny to say. And don't get him going on politics..a republican through and through...laughing.gif He told me years ago things that have come true today. He was pretty amazing. He flew airplanes, real ones and model ones. He made models since he was 9 yrs old. He grew up in costa mesa and surrounding areas. He met my mom at mile square and 3 months later they married. 3 yrs later I was concieved in Taft at a model airplane gathering (WTF of all places..TAFT JK laughing.gif) We came to Lake Elsinore when I was 1. They divorced and he moved to Oatman AZ in 88ish....He died in Kingman AZ. I love him so much. I miss him so much...

It was pancreatic cancer...

Lost my dad 12 years ago. He was 47. He was my best friend, taught me the begining of every skill that makes my business today. Somedays I think he just walked in the door, others seems like my memories are just dreams. I can still hear his voice and see his expressions.

I lost my dad in sept 04 and everyday i think of him.All the times i am in a jam working on something i try and think how he would have helped me,or how he would have done it and tear up from time to time
I will always have the memories from a kid growing up til the day he passed! But some vacations are hard to do without him.All i can do is tell my 2 kids(one was 3 when died) about how grandpa did things and what he taught me.

He was 55 and died from cancer.

Oh man I'm NOTHING compared to him...Hahaha

I shoulda shot one of his cannons off today..owell. I'll just shout obsenities in the shout box!! JK..laughing.gif

I remember we were out shooting one time. Black powder of course..haha. When he wasn't looking I laid out a trail of black powder and lit it up...dang near took off all my hair!! shocker.gif He was so pissed at me!! If I wasn't 12 I think I woulda got spanked! He asked me why I did it, I said I just liked the way it smells...dunno.gif I was banned from BP for awhile...

Another time we were BBQing and he went inside for a few...esco.gif I got a stick and wound some dead grass around it stuck it in the coals..and whola...FIRE!!!!! It got kinda big and I got scared so I dropped it. It started the grass on fire and I used his beer to put it out.. He came back out and I played it off like all was well. He ended up never knowing and thinking he just drank more of his beer than he thought. rotf.gif

I wish now I could tell him what really happened..

Sorry to hear about your dad's loss 12 years ago. I lost my dad last year! It's hard to see him go, but the memories last forever!

13 years now...

With the blink of an eye a last breathe was drawn,
the call came in at the break of dawn.
I stood there in shock at what I just heard,
all I can remember was the song of that bird.
He was happy as can be singing his mockingbird song,
while my world collapsed...my daddy was gone.
To this day there's a hole in my heart that is deep,
sometimes late at night the thoughts they just creep.
I miss him and wish I could share our memories,
but the past it fades fast like a cool mountain breeze.
It took years for the pain to begin to subside and still sometimes I cry,
but mostly I go numb as the years fly by.
I find joy in my son, my animals and life,
I thank God for what I have..even the strife.
I cherish the days I smile and spend with my son,
I look back and I realize what I have done.
My parents taught me well and made me strong,
with that and God is why I go on.....

Sharon, I couldn't help but notice your thread....I'm sorry for your loss, it is also the 6th anniversary of my Dad's passing. He was able to pass at home in the comfort of his own bed with family close by, he too died from cancer. I know how badly we miss them, and one day we'll be reunited with them, and all those who went before us. Heres a hug.gif it always helps.
D.O.N.E.
