look into the bombardier ds650 bajaX, its big, fast, and has easy to handle power. dont buy into everyone saying ooo ya its so big and heavy and its a bad idea. cuz it is a very nice bike and has GREAT suspension. my dad has one and my buddy (bout 300lbs) has a baja also and they both love them to death. i ride ours alot and its a VERY nice ride. good luck.. ride safe, peace

I weigh 220 (used to be 240) and I loooove my Banshee. Never liked the Bombardiers much for the reasons listed above (too tall, too wide, too heavy), but hey, that might work for you. I found the Raptor to sit a bit high and narrow, it felt tippy. The Honduh and Yami 450's are also both worth a look. I'd shy away from any of the 400s, any one would work to start, but you're going to need to start dumping $$$ into the bike as soon as you're ready to go fast...JMHO

JDubb, the current four stroke quads are plenty fast but the power is easily managable. As long as you understand that the bike will accelerate faster than you will expect at first and are carefull, you'll be fine. Don't speed along terrain that you aren't familiar with. Never jump without a spotter. Don't ride over your head. Usually, you'll know your riding over your head when you stop and say to yourself, Damn! I was riding over my head!:D They can and will hurt you if you aren't carefull but a well prepared rider will have a blast, new or not.

I'm 6'3 and 200 lbs., have an '03 DS650 Baja and love it. Ok, it's big... but it's damned comfortable... and a lot more nimble with that 48hp outa the box than many think!
