Hey everybody, I hope I am not the only one that wants to know this, but who is a good shop to service quads, specifically Yamaha, '04 YFZ 450, and '03 Raptor, they both run great, but I want them to get a look see, and check the valves, and stuff that I dont know how to do, both have alba pipes, YFZ has cam mod, both jetted, K&N filters, etc. the YFZ is not close to their jetting specs, and they have never heard of the cam mod, so I dont want them messing with it, does anyone know of a place that actually knows about bikes, not just sells them? thanks for the input, I will pretty much go anywhere in so cal. if they are top notch people, but I am in San Diego. Thanks again, Ian

DO NOT take it too a dealer!! especially with those mods.. take it to a engine builder in your area.

Best place is in your garage, get a parts manual and a shop manual for the quad and do it all yourself, only way to get best service.

I have a great experiences with South Bay Motorsports in Chula Vista/Nasty City. They have done work on ALL of my bikes, like grinding off the throttle stop on my WR450. Alba looked at me like I was insane when asked them to do that at the time of purchase. They also have upheld the warranty on my Raptor despite the nitrous bottle attached to the front bumper.
The key, and this is absolute, is to introduce yourself to the service manager (Mike Proo) when you drop off your bike. He will always take care of you.

Banshee250r, what have you been smokin. Alba is the only dealer who cares about there customers. I personally know of at least 8 people who have bought quads, after market parts, and have had service done. None of these people live near Alba, (Riverside area, Corona and Orange County). Alba has warranted stators, air filters, rims, etc. just to keep customs haapy. So if you what to talk crap about a dealer that might not given you the greatest deal of the century, look around you or in front you as your being past by a Alba bike.
To end this all Alba bikes are Fast.

I've only heard good things about Alba too. I've never been there myself.
My brother and I bought our Banshees at Fun Bike Center. We got awesome deals. I had some service done at FBC. No complaints here.

I heard NCY is pretty good.
If you have done regular maintenance to your bikes, just about the only thing you need to worry about is the top end (valves and their adjustments).
If you ever need a Raptor service manual, let me know, I can burn a copy of it on a CD and send it to you.
By the way, a friend from work also had a nightmare with ALBA. I do not know the specifics. I guess every shop has its good and bad days too.

I didnt buy my 2 bikes from ALBA (raptor and YFZ), but I have bought aftermarket parts from them, a-arms, 2 exhaust systems, axel, swingarm, and a bunch of other stuff, I had a terrible experience with them, and talked to Corey in the complaint dept. about them, their customer service was horrible, but after talking to Corey I am willing to give them another chance, but as far as motorwork goes they have not convinced me at all, they have never heard of the cam mod for the YFZ, and the jets they sold me with their pipe was way too lean, I might trust my raptor to them, but not the YFZ, I want someone that knows motors inside and out, and how to tweek them, not just sell parts for them... know where I am coming from?

As far as So. Bay Motorsports... I wouldn't take a flat tire to them. THEY SUCK !!! They will promise anything & DO nothing right. Their parts department is for crap & they won't even talk to you unless you're a Mexican. That's right I said it. I've given them more than a few chances over the years, because they are right down the street from me & they've tried to screw me every time. Everytime the parts are late, or "back-ordered". Now I call Motoworld & get them the next day, if not today. So. Bay always gouges you on the prices too. DON'T give So. Bay Motorsports your business.

I didn't really want to say it either. But I got the feeling if I was Mexican, those pieces of sh!t at AM Racing in Chula Vista would have not been so worthless.
By the way, I forgot to mention, they stole my low pressure tire guage out of my tool kit!
Keep it in the East County! We take care of each other. F the South Bay!

Damn!!!!! Outta 5yrs of dealing with southbay, and their parts dept almost exclusively, I have only 1 bad experience. I get great prices there, 20% discount on everything. I am as white as they come, and never felt like I needed to be mexican to get service. I have spent so much time in there, most of the cats know me by name. I have only 1 experiece with the service dept, and that was bringing in something for RustyRea, Mike Proo was excellent, didn't charge me a cent, just said "don't worry about it, I'll figure it out with Rusty when he gets back from the desert." I live really close to southbay as well, and generally don't go anywhere else

Funny , no one has mentioned about Trinity racing, are they still in business??.
My brother had them do a 420 long rod upgrade with port work and polished cylinders about 4 years ago and runs great.

I'm also as white as they come. Only once have I had a problem with there parts department, and that was went I dealt with a new guy behind the counter (He confused 92 KX250 with 02 KX250). Cesar and Gene are the parts guys to go to, and if you come in a few times and talk to em, you'll find yourself getting a nice discount. And Mike in service is definitely the man. My experience with Motoworld was more of the "dude-you don't know what your talking about, so quit asking stupid questions and wasting my time....NEXT!" EFF them. And as I said before, Alba flat out told me that there was no throttle stop to grind on my WR450, and now that South Bay did it.....MAN, what a difference!
Besides, anyplace that will warranty a Raptor with a nitrous bottle is OK in my book.

Hey where is Curtis Sparks located at? Can't seem to find on the web site. Looks like they do some Predator work also, that would be good for me. Although I like to do all the work myself, that place is pretty good it seems, Builder of the Year, Tim Farr 2004 engine builder, thems some pretty good refs.

The guys at Alba are a joke. There performance went out the door when Samcoe closed down. All they're good for is some cheap aftermarket parts and some lame a$$ graphics kits. For good reliable service locally I would go to Scribbs in El Cajon. I wouldn't have any performance engine work done there but he's been doing buisness for many years and is very honest.

Alot of people have alba parts and they love them, just because you have had a bad expierience with alba doestn mean they make crappy parts and lame graphics, I got my Z400 there with alba stage 3 kit and graphics and I think that the graphics are some of the best for my Z, so say all you want alba rocks

I haven't had a bad experience with them. As a mater of fact I've bought 2 quads and a street bike from them. I am saying that as far as engine building they are clueless. They have someone else do it (Samcoe). Whom is unfortunately no longer in business. As far as thier advice of jetting and other things they are clueless. When I bought my pipe (which is a good pipe), they told me they had done all this R&D work on the jetting and to jet a 165 main and 45 pilot on a YFZ450. Anyone who knows anything about this bike knows thats way on the lean side. This is how they jet all the new ones they sell and in my opinion they're going to see alot of them back alot sooner than normal with problems. Just my 2 cents. As far as the parts they have some good parts. The cheap ones I mean are the Alba signature parts (kickers, shifters, brake pedals a-arms). In general I love to buy parts there because they have a good selection I'm just not in favor of the made in TJ billet and chrome parts. As far as graphics, personally I don't like any graphics not just Alba.
Ian you don't need much service on your bikes. You did the cam mod yourself right. If you did that you can adjust the valves. Why have some kid work on your bike for simple maintenance Watch all the dogrider videos and you'll learn alot.

Alba is bad...they may have decent prices on some parts....but I wouldn't trust them to tear into my quad...the people I have talked to on the phone from there scared me away with their knowledge
