What do "ALL" american Hot Rods have in common?? Bad Azz American Motors! Mostly V8's and, over the last 5-10 years, at least, WE have been turning to Turn Key style Fuel injected motors! And as you hopefully know, "our" sport has done the same thing. So I would say a Custom Sandrail is just as much a "HotRod" as my 65 Chevelle!

I thought that was such an obvious answer, the question didn't even need to be asked...

I've been thinking of going to the next show with my sand car, even though I have a hayabusa motor. These are the modern day hot rods.

Congrats!
I think the goodguys shows are the best. They don't "judge" the car, but rather have "picks", which allows some non mega buck cars a chance to share the winners circle.
They have several formats...some limit to 50's, some the 70's, and others, any year. If you fail to recognize the newer cars, eventually you won't have a show.
