I have a Mendeola S4 and have made 4 trips out and have a real bad clicking sound that seems to be getting worse. It has always made the noise and it sounds like it is coming from the tranny or the CV's.
Is this normal and what kind of service should I be doing to the tranny?
I am a newbee and figured it wouldn't hurt to ask here.
ONE-A-DAY
Clicking usually equals cvs, jack the car up and fire it up and put it in gear and have some one stand back there, it will be very obvious which one of the cvs is bad. Or you can do it in the garage in neutral, same thing. Might just be dry, but if it has been clicking for several trips its probably ruined.

If the cv's are new, they sometimes click until they wear in. Like TNT said, check them on jack stands, grease 'em up real good and see if it quiets down a bit.

Another thing that it could be is the CV timing...... Take a look at the cv bolts, if you take one of the bolts on the inside cv and rotate it untill it is at the 12 o-clock postion and then look at the outer cv bolts on the same axle. The upper two bolts should be at the 11 and 1 postions. If you do not time your cvs when building your axels you can get extreem axle ossolation causing a clicking or knocking noise....

One last thing make sure you do not have too much angle in your cvs, that will cause binding and give you the same symptom....

I had a horrible snaping sound and thought i broke a tooth off my ring and pinnon, after pulling motor and tranny out, going though my albins and eveything was perfect with my r&p,there was a strange look in my face as a look down to my cv"s! coocoo.gif
