Well I just tore apart my 70 for the 2nd time in 2 weeks (didnt look into it as far as I should have earlyer) only to find out that my piston is wore out..
So now here is the question, Should I put an 88cc kit into it? or should I just throw a piston and a bore on it?
I just put new valves into the head and it is in good shape now.. Im also on a pretty tight budget.. So I need some input on what to get and if I do go 88 what do I need to get?

i say if you are on a tight budget then put a new piston in it and rebore it.

the sterdy 88cc kit with a HV oil pump and HD clutch have been great to me. We have 2 of them and I love them! once you have the 88cc....you will never go back to stock.......you will want even more power!! laughing.gif

Good luck!

ps: powdercoat the clutch cover and engine cover while you got it apart...makes it look like new when you get it back together!

If I was to go this route, who makes a dicent piston for the 70? I have seen the kits on Ebay and the kits at DRATV.. But what one to get?

thats a good question i was also woundering the samething.i am a die hard fan for the wesico pistons. do they have a kit for the 70's?

Isn't the drop in 88 kit about $100? Id figure a stock piston and bore would run close to that

dont you have to change out some stuff to upgraded performance. to run the 88cc kit? such as the cam timing chain exc.

Guys your thinking to much into these things. Just order a stock replacement piston (47mm) ether the Honda or the after market ( I bought the cheap one works fine) from Dratv hone out your cylinder, clean up your head & put in some new seals in for the valves.
You should be fine.
Or just buy the 88 cylinder kit and use your stock head.

Should be just drop, adjust, torque and go.

It would be impossible for anyone to tell you how your motor will respond until it is built.

If stock pipe and carb, then staying stock should be fine.

If you have a pipe maybe one size up.

If new carb and pipe then you will need to adjust as needed.

Oh, and only your 3rd order laughing.gif
SANDPRO666
ohhh boy you will have more to come on ordering parts from them.

Bustin-bs
Oil pump is a breeze my son did his and i supervised beer.gif we are still putting his motor together since we want to have all motor parts painted/powder coated before we re-assemble. If you have the time then take the time and do it right. i have to agree these 88kits seem to be the hot ticket, i guess we will find out first hand thumb.gif
