Need some help trying to find the right kind of goggles to wear to avoid the sun glare in the dunes. Any suggestions on a particular tint to avoid the sand blindness out there in the dunes when the sun hits directly down and you can't see where you are going?? blink.gif icon_cool.gif

I thought you were talking about beer goggles. icon_biggrin.gif

I've used skiing goggles before. They had the orange tint and it really helped. I'm sure riding goggles with an orange tint would help.

I've heard good things about the Amber/Yellow tint for the desert. I got a set of really dark tint. Good for the sun but once the sun sets, look out!

Tried that, and it didn't seem to work out for me......sounds like I will try the yellow/amber tint so that I don't run into anymore witches eyes. Thanks for the tips!! icon_biggrin.gif icon_cool.gif

I've tried maybe 7 or 8 frames and 10-11 lenses. Nothing will stop that snow blind feeling. The scott amp blue lens has been the best one I've tried so far. It scratched pretty easily though. The yellow tints are too bright for me. Maybe my eyes are sensative. icon_cool.gif I stick now with chrome lenses that have a grey tint underneath. Frames are arnette or smith warpt though my next pair will be oakley's. I hear the oakleys don't let in much sand so I wanna check that out.

i also use oakley "O" frames they dont let sand in and they keep the glare down there also onliky like 35 bucks

I love my Oakleys.Very litle or no sand ever gets in like my Smiths, and Scott goggles do.The type of lens I use in my Oakleys are a dark amber color that starts at the top of the lens and fades down to clear at the bottom.(something like what Elvis Pressley's shades used to look like). I ordered them out of a Denis Kirk catalog and they really cut out that "white wash" effect of the direct sun on the dunes. good luck. icon_wink.gif

My friend gave me a couple pair of Oakley goggles and I got a pair of Dragons for Christmas. Both are superior to those chinsy Smith and Scotts. I guess you really do get what you pay for. I still need to try the silicone at the top to keep out more sand.

i run the pro-grip light sensative goglles and love em. i do get a little vision glazing like snow blind, but not a whole lot. took a direct blast behind a moto down the drags and not a grain of sand in my eyes. although the rest of my face really hurt. a little raw.

go with progrip!! they also have different shades of lenses and are only like $35

sunglasses work best when you're lead. im thinking about trying my sunglasses with a XD Arai helmet when im not out front. hmmmmm
DUNE
I have always like the Oakley O-frames with the black iridium lenses. I can almost look right at the sun and not have a problem. But don't wear them at night... icon_cool.gif
DUNE
Oh and plan on spending around 60 bucks for them...

I use Scott goggles with a gradient lens. The gradient lens adjust for light levels. As for sand and dust in your goggles use chap stick on the foam.

Thanks for all of the tips!! I will let you know what I end of getting!!

hmmmm never hear of chap stick, and I always have that in my pocket, I will have to try that one too!! icon_biggrin.gif

I just picked up a new set of Scott’s 89x light sensitive goggles for $25. They go from clear to amp blue and they are actually almost completely clear in the dark so they will work fine after the sun goes down. I haven’t ridden with them yet so this weekend will be the test...hopefully the sun actually comes out long enough to test them.
