I have an 02 ezgo 36 volt electric golf cart. It has some speed chip in it (pretty cheesy, just a few wires really). It probably goes about 17 mph. Not much faster than it's previous life on the golf coarse. Is there a way to make it go faster? Different controller or something?

Is it a PDS or Series cart?

Are you looking for torque or top speed?

A new controller and 4 gauge cables will help.....

A 48 volt upgrade will help even more.

Speed = Money
How fast do you want to go?

Hmmmmm, not sure what PDS or Series cart is. All I know is it is a 36 volt 2002 ezgo. Was a golf course cart. Was hoping to get it to go 20mph or so. more top speed than torque. Is there a bigger motor I should go with.

Since it has a speed chip I am guessing it is a PDS.....

You probably have a forward/reverse switch on th dash and not down by your leg....

Is there a black box with a tow/run switch under your seat?

Yep, that's it. For/rev on dash and the black box with tow/run switch. It has the chip, but the chip is basically a few wires for speed over torque. Can I get a bigger motor or something to get it up to 20 mph? I know some other people at the late and their electric carts go faster than mine?

I would not mess with the motor.... You cant change the motor without first an upgrade to your controller. There is not many motor options out there for a PDS cart.

I would start with a good set of 4 gauge cables on the batteries.....

Then I would get a 400 Amp Alltrax Controller.

That will give you lots more torque and top speed.... That will hit your 20mph mark...

If you still want more after the controller and cables......... then you can upgrade it to 48 volts. You add 2 more batteries in the bag well. You will need a 48 volt charger and a heavy duty solenoid. The controller that I mentioned above is good for 36 or 48 volts....

Here is the controller that you need...

Thanks Mike, I'll look into buying that controller and upgrading the Cables.

No problem... I have a 2004 EZ Go PDS with those exact same upgrades.... it moves pretty good... You will be happy with the controller and cables....

I also have a 6 seat Limo Cart with California Plates. It has a 400 amp All Trax Controller, 4 gauge cables, and I upgrade it to 48 volts. I burned up a few motors so I recently upgraded to a Heavy Duty 12 hp GE Motor.... It barely fit under the cart....

Shoot me a PM and let me know if you have any other questions or need anymore help...
