Just wanted to say; anyone thinking about getting the new trx450 DO IT it is one awesome bike. The suspension is super and the bike is extremly light and fast. I rode the new Yamaha 450 and due to my size 6,4 the Honda seems to fit real nice. Thank you for everyones help and suggestions before buyinbg this bike..

After checking the quad out I must say that I wasn't impressed with it. It seemed to me like a 400ex on steroids and from the people I talked to that have ridden it liked the 450 Yamaha better. They called it another Honda let down....
Just my 2 cents

you're not gonna tell much by sitting on them.

I sat on one the other day and that is one comfortable quad. Felt really good sitting on it. Motor is good but the suspension is not as good as my predator, not even close, same with the YFZ 450. They are light weight and good motors and they improved the suspensions to be better stoke, but the suspension on a predator is still the best stock. Wish could go on a diet now. Or bore the motor.

I'd say forget the diet and do the motor!!!!!!!

The 450's suspension is set up for motocross so they are a little stiff,
what I like about the honda is the front light has a compartment right above it that holds all the electronics

I have taken both bikes out. The stiffness is different. Honda you can turn 2 clicks up and the yamaha you need to turn 8 clicks down. The Honda in the dunes feels like the suspension is much more controllable. The Yamaha actually has a little more travel. I think both bikes are great, but you hear more of the bigger guys liking the Honda. The yamaha when you sit on it actually feels small when its not. The Yamaha has a little more H.P but the Honda has more torque.

Sitting on the trx450r was comfy but just not for me. Didn't feel right. Kinda feels high but i know it's only 1" higher than the yfz450. Didn't get the vibe just sittin on it as i did sitting on the yfz.

Another thing that tic's me off is the fact the Honda comes with a "POWER UP" kit....hmmmmm spend all the cash producing a new long awaited monster quad and offer a power up kit with it.....cam, pistons...blah blah blah...
Why not just build the bike with all the bells and whistles with it!!??!!??
I realize the quad needs to stay within the 450cc boundries for racing but i just dont' get it

It's not uncommon for the manufacturers to offer "hop up" parts on their bikes. Way back in the early 70's when I was starting to ride, Yamaha offered gyt kits (we called em "get kits"), as they still do today. Manufacturers aren't dumb. They know that there is money to be made selling parts to make their products go faster. Otherwise all of those aftermarket companies wouldn't exist. So they can make some more $$'s off of this. Some people will only use factory brand hop up parts, so that's good for them too.
Also, manufacturers have the old "liability" issues to deal with. Welfare scammer sells all their food stamps to buy a 450 cause the little 7 year old's been screaming for 10 minutes they want a quad. Gives them the quad, off they go, helmetless, and crash. Welfare scammer sues manufacturer cause little timmy got hurt with all the "race" power...yada yada yada...so naturally things are tuned down a bit.
Another reason for detuning...longevity. Every thing you do to make "power" reduces the margin between reliability and problems.
So, lots of reasons to offer the "power up" kit.

Good point BeachHead....i was still chocked from the Honda dealer guys slammin the Yami went i went to look at the TRX. I like looking at the machine and getting points from a dealer who should know about the machine their selling, not POINT out all the faults of any other manufactures machines, that's not what i went there for....i'm sure you guys have had the same thing happen. I'll be rollin on the Yami in about 3 weeks

I know, that really sucks when a company in any business sells their product by slamming the competition. Before I bought the bike I went to a bunch of different dealerships and told them what i was willing to pay and all but one laughed me out of there.

Brandon, where did you end up buying the bike? I saw you posted in the other topic about LACycles, is that where you got it? And did they honor the online out the door price? House of Motorcycles in SanDiego claims they will save me the trip to LA. Last, what area do you live in?

I bought it from Fun Bike center. Both me and a friend went and bought bikes. That is also where I bought my last bike from. They are real nice there.

Yamaha vs Honda. Go ride both bikes for a day each and then tell me what you'd rather ride. Both bikes are very fast and light but the YFZ beats you up and the TRX is easy to ride fast. It doesn't wear you out. I know most of you haven't had the chance to do that, but time will tell.

Just keep your stuff away from the service department...err...13 year olds with crescent wrenches. And if either of you bought the warranty I'd get my money back, they don't honor it.
I did a great deal of business with them for a while, bought my wife's bike there, referred my father-in-law who bought 2 bikes, I brought in 2 more friends who both bought on the same day they walked in. Asked them to honor the service contract I got suckered into paying like an extra $700 for, they told me $50 to look at the bike. Then when they said it wasn't a covered repair, they wanted another $100 to put it back together. I took the engine home in cardboard boxes and took the bike elsewhere, where I found out they had completely misdiagnosed the problem, the engine should have never come apart. Service dept. and management were totally unsymphathetic. Sorry for the long

but I didn't want to look like I was just randomly badmouthing without explanation.
The sales guy I worked with there was great, but he's no longer there and has plenty of his own horror stories, but he was professional enough to not mention any of them. He now works at Motoworld, I now shop at Motoworld.

I know what you mean about the sales guys are nice but............ They tried to sell me the warranty for 400.00 and I said no because I figured whatever I broke they would say it was my fault "rider error" I only buy bikes from them no service and no parts!! They offer pretty good discounts but whenever I call on parts they are rude. There is one guy there I forget his name he has a turbo banshee he is nice and knows his stuff but that is about it. I get both my service and parts done @ Duncan Racing.

I just bought a new 2004 CRF 450R from Fun Bike center 6500 OTD, best deal by far in town. I'll let you know on the service this week when by extra full rear wheel with paddle comes in and gets mounted. They do give a good discount after you purchase a bike ther on parts and apparal. I was pretty happy with the whole deal actually. Bike is awesome also, like a 2 wheel light weight quad. You think the YFZ 1t 350lbs. is fast, wheel the 2004 stock 450R bike is 225 lbs. and not detuned.
