below is the typical rear engine set up for the ports.Click to view attachmentbelow is the electric pump and filter which can be ran on a switch or relay with thermostat.
always run the filter before pump.
-8 hose is sufficient size since we are using the pump as a short circulation system.
you can use -6 on the outlet side and -8 on the inlet when used with a cooler.
the cooler is a option that most don't need.
A thermostat in line will tell you if a cooler is needed
215- 225 deg. is the area in temp we would want to see a cooler added.Click to view attachmentWhat other ????? do you have?

This is a good Question.
The Gearbox like the rest of the car should be warmed up before a trip, as to splash the lube around.
minimum operating temp would take a while to reach 180 deg.
I suggest do some camp laps to lubricate the gear box and get the box gradually up to a operating temp.

You can drill and tap without removing the trans or you'd need it out?
I need service already anyway. Only have 6-8 trips on this trans and 2nd is making bad noises

Mike,
you need to come see me.
We need to straighten out your gearbox.
There should be holes already for oil lines.

My buggy is 6 weeks old. Will mine have the holes for a trans cooler?
I'm glad I read this. I NEVER even thought of letting my tranny warm up before getting on it. How many miles or minutes does this usually take??
Can I have a trans temp gauge in my dash??

Yes, yours has the ports.
temp should be good after about 15-20 min. of cruising.
A trans temp gauge is a good idea.
look at these we are dealers they are extremely powerful gauges.http://www.speedhut.com/custom_gauge_descr..._number-622.htm

What is "normal" operating temperature?

What is "normal" operating temperature?
Normal operating temperature is from ambient temperature to 220 deg.
Once you reach above 230-275 deg. there is a problem occurring in the drive line, and should be dealt with.
Once you reach 280-330 deg. you have taken the temper out of the gear steel and things are failing.
Once you reach 350-400 deg. the oil is just beginning to flash and break down.

I would say from Gordons to the dunes is plenty of time to warm up, from the washes to the dunes is plenty of time also.
Once the trans gets hot from 1 good run, it pretty much stays warm for the rest of the day, unless you are a camp queen.

what if you are a camp queen and keep it in the sun, or put a tranny warmer

Are there any mods to help lube the ring and pinion, or do I not need to worry about it?

Yes, they sell sending units.
There should be a hole- (1/8" pipe) on the drivers side towards bottom of case towards the bellhousing.
