Which quad is better/easier for a girl to drive. Blaster(2-stroke) or Honda 400ex(4-stroke). Everybody is telling me to get the 400ex because it will be easier to drive for my wife. What do you guys and girls think. Give me your opinion and any experiances. Keep in mind my wife will be driving it.

My wife started on a 250EX and loved it. Probably a better starter bike because you don't have to learn to use the clutch. The downside is that she outgrew it in a year, and has since moved on to a KFX400. But if your not sure she's going to ride, your better off buying the cheaper bike. We sold the 250EX to a buddy for his wife, and she loves it and has no ambition of moving up.

I would get her a 400EX(4 stroke, electric start), less maintenance than a blaster(2 stroke, kick start)
Dune Freak
She will definetly be riding it. That is one reason why we are going to probably get the 400ex because then we don't have to get a smaller one then sell it and get a bigger one. Plus I heard they are easier to ride then a blaster. We can get a blaster for $3800 out the door minus paddles. We can get the 400ex for $5400 out the door with paddles and pipe. I think it might be worth it to spend the extra money now.

ok....

balster = kick start, premix gas, and a shorter wheel base.

400ex = electric start, no premix, and more for an adult size rider.

now if your wife is very small or doesnt plan on riding very much in the dunes id say go for the blaster but if you want something that she can get use to and it will get her up any hill needed then go with the 400ex.

my choice would be the 400 ex. they are cheap to buy and fun for all types of riders.

For the wife, definitely the 400ex over the blaster. electric start, no gas mixing...just push the button and go. Almost perfect for her. And, $4999 out the door price at L.A. Cyclesports.

For just a little more money, you can get her an even better ride..a suzuki 400. It's got a lighter front end which my wife finds easier to steer. And it's got reverse, which my wife seems to find way too many uses for. That one is curently $5690 out the door at L.A. Cyclesports. (I know, you didn't ask about the suzuki..icon_smile.gif ) But, buy once, and forget about it for a long time...icon_smile.gif

my wife has a blaster and loves it...she says my Z-400 feels to big to her!!!

let her ride both then decide...

btw...the blaster is oil injected...u dont have to mix any gas...ive had this blaster since '87...and the damm thing runs and runs and runs!!

MY WIFE HAS A 400EX SHE LOVES IT (ELECTRIC START YOU KNOW). SHE MOVED OVER FROM A 250R. I WOULD GO WITH THE 400EX. IF YOU DON'T HAVE TO HAVE NEW, YOU CAN GET SOME GREAT DEALS ON USED ONES. WE GOT MY WIFE'S 2002 FOR $3600.

p.s.

we are going to Dove Springs this weekend....come on out...and she can try mine!

I've been riding a long time and I have a 400ex. I really like it. It's no where near the fastest bike out there but I don't have any problem keeping up and taking all the big bowls!

If your wife weighs more than a 100lbs, the blaster is going to be working hard! The 400 is a great all around bike.

Of course when I bought my bike I only had two choices, the Craptor ( laughing.gif ) or a 400. I got the 400. If I was going out today I'd seriously have to look at the Suzuki 400. I've ridden that one and its a great bike with more spunk than my 400 has.

I have to admit though. I love the lack of maintenance required on my 400!! icon_biggrin.gif

My wife loves her 400. Hated the Blaster, it just didn't have the power when she needed it and destroyed her duning confidence. Electric start, gas mileage (these things burn NO gas, one time we went to Gordons to meet a friend, went riding, then topped off before heading home and she barely burned a 1/2 tank), and the smooth powerband of a 4-stroke and I think the choice is easy.

SHOCKER
I did great on my blaster when I got it, I probably weighed about 130, and rode it until I weighed 150 and it pulled me around great, now I got a z400 and I can do anything I want, I feel more safe on my Z then my blaster, I would probably go with the 400ex

I appreciate everyone's input. We are going to go down tonight and pick up our brand new 400ex. We are going to glamis this weekend. This is the first time she has had something of her own to ride other then riding in our rail. It just seems like the most logical one to get. The maintence free is a big plus.

Congrats on the purchase, and good luck! Hope to see you out in the dunes sometime, I'm sure your wife will love her new toy...
SHOCKER
hope she likes it and get some sandstar paddles, 20x11x8 for the rear, those would be he best
SUPERFLY
Good choice man. We have both and i definately would rather have the 400 over the blaster if i had to ride them. The blaster had plenty of power for me to get up most hills but it just felt way to small. The 400 is a lot smoother ride. Electric start is a BIG plus with the ladies.

Good call on the EX400 icon_wink.gif
Dune Freak
yeah, we picked it up last night. Getting it ready for this weekend. Hopefully it doesn't rain too much out there. Don't want it to be too choppy.
PBHB400EX
Good, she would of not liked the Blaster
SHOCKER
What paddles did you get or going to get, I recommend the sand stars 20x11x8
Dune Freak
We have not had time to get the paddles yet. The paddles they had there were too expensive. We are going out this weekend without them. She won't really need them this weekend because she won't be doing that much duning. We will look around more next week. We have already spent about $500 on Helmet, goggles, gloves, new handle bar set and a K&N filter kit.
