I HAVE NEVER OWNED A 2 STROKE. I BOUGHT MY 2 YEAR OLD GIRL A USED PW50 THAT HAS TO HAVE THE GAS AND OIL MIXED. THIS IS SOMETHING THAT I HAVE NEVER DEALT WITH. WHAT IS THE MIX PERCENTAGES FOR A 2-STROKE OF THIS SORT. SORRY FOR THE DUMB QUESTION.
BaNsHeE350
depends on what kind of oil you use....look on the bottle of oil, it will usually give a ratio per the oil makers specs
DEEZ RACING
DOES IT MATTER IF ITS A 50CC BIKE OR A 250CC THE RATIO SHOULD BE THE SAME.
sandking
I've been mixing my Banshee 40:1 for years now, no probs.
SHOCKER
It doesnt matter on CC's it matters on the bike, try to get a manuel that might have the mixture ratio
Moto13
Just run it at around 40:1 it's only a 50cc that's going to be riden by a kid, it's not going to take much abuse, and the smaller the motor, the more durable they seem to be. I like to run my bike at 32:1 in the dunes. I tend to put a little more stress on the motor out there then in hardpack. So I'll run a little leaner then. But 40:1 is probably a good safe mix ratio. It does vary between oils, but not that much, unless you start running real expensive oil or special oils like Amsoil. They actually make an oil that they claim suped up snowmobiles are burning at 180:1... blink.gif
Scary... but they say it's all good.
SHOCKER
It puts more stress on the bike in the dunes because of the paddles and the hills, in hard pack you have nobbies and not as many hilss

I have a 2-stroke roto hammer/ breaker, She runs at 12:1!!!!!!!!!! blink.gif She drinks the oil! beer.gif

Just remember, too much oil is just as bad as too little. Too much oil will insulate the piston from the cyclinder walls and prevent it from transferring heat to the cooling system. The piston will "melt down" inside the cylinder.
DUNE
I run a 40:1 mix in both my 40cc quad and my 250R. Works great in both bikes...
Bansh88
I dump the 16oz bottle oy Yamalube into my gas can. Fill to about 4 1/2 gallons.
No idea what the ratio is. I suck at math!
Esco
if you only put 4 gallons of gas it would be 40-1
Bansh88
So i'm runnin about 45:1. Too high?
Esco
if your plugs look fine leave it as is
The Pastor
Quart to 5 gal is fairly common mix...

The Pastor smokin.gif
MWBbanshee
11.5oz of mix and 5 gallons of gas is my mix
Bansh88
Sweet! I'm doing fine. My plugs look beautiful. I change em every other trip.

97 YZ250. 32:1 and still on the factory top end. Runs like the day I bought it. And I ride pretty hard.

Bansh, that means you are running about 36:1. As long as your plugs look good you are fine.

I run 40:1 in both mine and Carrie's bike. I am lazy and just dump the 16 ouncer into 5 gallons icon_biggrin.gif

128 oz = 1 gal.

16 oz to 4 gal = 32:1
16 oz to 4.5 gal = 36:1 <-----
16 oz to 5 gal = 40:1
Esco
damn I missed it by that much hahah

I guess I used to run my banshee at 32.1

does nobody buy a ratio-rite anymore. these things are gold people. dont rely on a bottle or a guess, get exact! GET... RATIO-RITE.

SHOP SMART........SHOP....S......MART
faster dad!!!
ive had three previous banchees and have one currently along with 2 50's for my kids all 2 stroke and i use the small bottle of bell ray oil to 5 gall of gas 50:1 and have very rarely fouled a plug and have had no problems.same with every quad guy i know
DEEZ RACING
I THINK IM GOING TO GO WITH 40:1 AND SEE HOW THAT GOES. I'L TRY IT FOR A FEW WEEKS AND SEE HOW EVERYTHING LOOKS.
THANKS
HA2
i break ratio rites every other trip. good thing they're cheap.
BamBam
I just dump 1 thing of MC-1 into 5 gallons of gas. It's a 50:1 mix.

Ratio-Rites are nice for mixing 1, 2, or 3 gallons of gas but when they put the oil in a nice 16 oz. bottle why poor the entire bottle into a cup just to poor it all into the gas? It’s not like the oil company can’t be trusted and is lying about that 16 oz and it’s really only 15.

If I want to run 32:1 I put 4 gallons in the jugs and if I want to run 40:1 I put 5 gallons in the jugs. Fortunately I don’t run any other mix or else I’d need the Ratio-Rite.

Come on, even you can do that math!

(128x4)/12=42.66666...
42.7:1

None of you guys have brought up the use of Bean or synthetic 2 stroke mix?

The original question was what are the common ratios not what type, but since you bring it up...

You can run a little higher ratio if you use full synthetic oil vs. regular, i.e. 40:1 vs. 32:1 or 50:1 vs. 40:1. All the different types of oils have their advantages and disadvantages and there are even some that mix them together to try and get the best of both like the castor/synthetic blends.

However in those tinny little engines you don’t have to worry about nitpicking all that and just run whatever oil you want as long as it’s not chainsaw oil!
Rubberneck
I was told the synthetic oil would gum up my powervalve.
