RABIES HAS 100% KILL RATE. The Center for Disease Control (CDC) rates rabies as their number one worry because of its 100% kill rate.

If you have not vaccinated your animals for rabies, all mammals that you own, DO IT NOW. PAY THE MONEY. DO NOT SKIMP ON THIS. I cannot stress enough what a horrible death humans and animals suffer from rabies. This includes horses, ferrets, rats, rabbits, any mammals that you own. (It does not affect reptiles, amphibians, or insects.) Spending $20 per animal for a vaccine is nothing compared to saving the life of the pet, a family member, or your own.

Also, if you, a friend, or a family member is bitten by any suspicious animal, do not delay--get to a doctor to get a rabies treatment. You must receive the treatment within 24 hours for it to work.

Thats prettt creepy. They are mainly talking about foxes and skunks, but if it gets to other critters like field mice or squirrels, watch out.

I thought this was interesting:

Flagstaff has declared a 90-day pet quarantine—all dogs on leashes and all cats indoors—which began in April.

I know a lot of people do not give thier cats rabies shots since they keep them inside. We take ours in our motorhome so they have a rabies shot.
