I just recently bought a Custom Built 24ft Enclosed V-Nose trailer and was wondering if I need to Insure it? It's paid for but I would like to know that if something happens to it that it would be covered.... I was wondering if my Motorhome policy will cover it or if I have to have a whole seperate policy for the Enclosed Trailer? Do you insure yours? If so, with who and do you have any idea of what the going rate per month is?

If your connected, the connected vehicle's insurance covers it (if policy allows).
If you disconnect on the freeway and it creams someone your screwed if you don't have a seperate policy.
The seperate policy will cover any issues while not attached to a vehicle.

as long as the chains are connected its still attached......right?

I could be wrong but I believe I was told your vehicle policy will cover while it's hooked up, but that policy will not cover the contents of the trailer...

Trailer insurance is dirt cheap. I pay less than $30/yr to cover mine against theft/fire/etc. plus liability. IIRC the insurance covers any contents that are not vehicles (tools, etc)... they toys have their own policies. My insurance is thru State Farm, your mileage may vary.

Best thing to do is to call your insurance agent that you have your MoHo insured through. Make sure that the trailer is added for Liability and Physical damage coverage... (Insure it to value) the contents would more than likely not be covered unless your policy has provision for it to be itemized, tools and things of that nature. Other motor vehicles Quad, rhino, or sand rail will need their own policy for coverage because they would be registered vehicles.

Your Liability and comp carry over from the tow vehicle but that's it. You need a seperate policy to cover fire/theft/vandalism. It's dirt cheap and you won't even notice it.

Reminds me I've got to do this too...

Ya OC boy your funny swim.gif what sharks ?

Thanks for the words, Remember all policies are different with each company so check with your agent. But basically liability coverage extends from the tow vehicle to the bodily injury or property damage the trailer may do. If was was being tow and became unhooked and then did damage That really shouldnt be an issue on coverage.
If you want coverage for comp or collision you need to either endorse on a existing policy or have a seperate policy added. You can also add contents coverage to the trailer for riding gear and such, but remember contents does not include vehicles in the trailer quads/bikes and sandcars they need there own policy.
Thanks, Jeff

It could be less than that if your with one of the few companies that will endorse the trailer off the tow vehicle and also check if you have any extra contents coverage.
