I would check the plug, and the air filter. That would be the first 2 guesses. After that, maybe tak out the jets, and see if they might be clogged. if that still doesn't do it, maybe clean the carb.

need more info on the bike. what year? how long since it ran right? how old is the gas? has anyone messed with it recently? etc.

the bike is a 2000, the tranny has been rebuilt so it has sat for about 6 months,
SHOCKER
any after market parts? Check the plug, check carb, is choke on?

it sounds more like a fuel related problem to me. the gas is too old if it's been sitting six months, drain it and put fresh in. do check the air filter and spark plug, tho. pull the bowl off the carb and see if there is any krud in it. if it has a fuel filter check that. if none of the above works, you may have to pull and check/clean the carb, it's not too hard. good luck, tell us what you find.

Steve is right, sitting 6 months, there's your problem, bad gas, possibly gummed up carb a little bit.
Smell the gas in the tank, betcha it smells funny. Drain it, put new gas in it, and it will probably clear itself up after about 5 mins of running.

always check the air filter first.

my bro has had problem withhis bike not starting, running like crap and all kinds of different little things. turns out he never cleaned his air filter and it was clogged.

That's what I was going to say... The filter is clogged....
I've seen this from a bike that had a rag stuck in the airbox!

I would have said air filter off the bat as well, but... he said it's been sitting 6 months. If it ran fine 6 months ago... filters don't clog sitting in the garage. Gas will go bad.

Drain the tank, put new gas in it, clean the air filter, and put a new plug in it...
All this should cost no more than about 5 bucks to see if that solves your problems... I'd bet it will...
SHOCKER
The gas cap has a hose that runs into the handlebars, if that is twisted or kinked it will do that my bike did that

I've never heard of regular gas going bad after 6 months. I've had my street bike sitting for over a year and it started right up with no problems. Maybe 6 months with a 2 stroke but still... my dird bikes don't clog up over summer.

I'd check the air filter first. If thats not the problem I'd look at the carb. It's not hard to yank it off and clean it out. Make sure it's adjusted properly. Then I'd drain the tank. My 2 cents.

depending on what kind of a bog youre talking about but my girlfriends warrior has a periodic glich when you punch the throttle.it is caused actually a carb problem.
