I’ve very recently had something stolen from me; from somebody I never would have thought would do such a thing. The worst part about it is that the guy, who shall remain nameless, for now, is a well respected dunner.
I feel truly betrayed and I can’t believe I would have ever called this person my friend or let them around my business or my family.
Who’s had something stolen and how did it make you feel?

It's happened to me years ago - not a duner friend.
It made me very wary of any and all of my friends, and to this day I have trouble really "letting people in", and they have to have really earned my trust.

I had two things stolen from me over 25 years ago by a close friend of our families and by one of my sisters boyfriends.
I saw the first theft and found the item in my friends room and called her on it a week or so later. I got the item back! This person had some mental issues. Her younger sister was and still is my best friend to this day.
I was shocked like you but it was long ago and I have let it go.
If it were to happen to me today I would be very upset!

Sucks about getting robbed! But are you sure its not a misunderstanding or something? Like did he borrow something of yours and forget to give it back? Or did he straight up just jack you for something?
Have you talked to them about it after the incident? Communication is everything and if the person is as you say; "A well respected duner", you should give them a chance to make it right. Give em a call, email em or even shoot em a PM and talk about the issue. Then if they don't come clean - throw em under the bus and post all the juicy details here...

I've always been a firm believer that a man who claims to have more friends than fingers is either a fool or a liar. I can count all my real friends on my fingers and still have some left over.
I can't stand a thief. Thieves. liars, and people who aren't punctual are my three biggest peevs.
Sucks you got filched. Burn me once shame on you, but there won't be a 2nd time.

Eff that. I would sure like to know who it is if there's a thief among us. Or at least hear the excuse.

You could post details without a name.
But the manner in which you posted this leaves too much to really get anyones opinion on your issue as its TOO VAGUE.

I had a brother-in-law steal a Snap-on torque wrench and some stereo stuff from me. He put the stereo stuff in his truck in plain view and I went to his work to get a tire fixed, opened his tool box to get a screwdriver and there was my wrench with my initials ground off. I didnt want to confront him at his work so i confronted him the next night after I had proof from his snap-on dealt that he never purchased it and he gave it back with everything including the torque settings ground off. Him and my sister were living at my moms house when this happened.
We also think he went in my moms underwear drawer and stole her Avon Money.
