Art Phillips is the biologist that the ASA hired to help with the delisting of the PMV. He needs some help if you have a rail/jeep that can give rides to people counting plants.

I'd help, but the closest thing I have to useful is a near-stock Yukon 4x. icon_sad.gif

ahhhhhh I've been looking at getting a Yukon. How do you like it? Sorry you went with it over the Chevy model (can't remember what that's called)? Pleased as heck and you'd buy three more if you could? icon_biggrin.gif

It's an older one ('96), but I love it. I've blown out the 4x4 one time already, many people like to rag on Chevy/GM's 4x4 system, but I'll admit total user error was involved with my failure. It's been pretty deep into the dunes with just new wheels and tires, like deep where people on quads and in buggies stop and watch us tooling around, like "How'd they get that thing out here?!? blink.gif " Several different people have told me they prefer the GMC make (including 2 Chevy owners), some citing better manufacturing facilities and the like, some with all opinion and no reason. In any case, I love it and I'll probably buy another in 3-4 years (I think the old beast has that much life left in her, at least)...

Excellent! Now I'm even more interested in getting one! Thanks Dave.

This sure would help out if some folks could jump on in and lend a hand, cuz there ain't no better folks to do it than the GD.com peeps...Time to look for Mr. Milkvetch. He's out there, Slap gots a great pic on the front page that he just took.

You can contact Art phillips at Nn7a@aol.com

Yep.

Here is Art Philips' post from the ASA board:

Hey folks -- we could sure use a little help here. So far we are covered for Buttercup and Gordon's Well (with the help of one lone volunteer and Off-Road Buggy Supply in Yuma), but we still need someone to step up for Glamis. This would be about a 4-5 hour commitment, and we can schedule it at your convenience between Mar. 5th and 8th. We have 6 sites to visit, three southeast of the Glamis closure and three between Gecko Rd. and the closure. It's a great opportunity to help out not only the ASA cause, but also to see what we're up to and learn about the fascinating world of the PMV!!

There will be two of us -- so we need a four-seater or a couple of 2-seaters.

Anyone who wants to join us at Buttercup or Gordon's is also most welcome. We'll be out for one full day at Buttercup and two days in the Gordon's-Patton Valley area. Full or half-day volunteers are welcome.

If you're going to be in the dunes that weekend and would like to help out, please let Russ or me know. We'd really appreciate your help.

Thanks!
Art
