Just had my E rebuilt and upgraded to a 2D. The ratios are terrible. Trans. is back out now and i hoping
for some direction here.
Car is a two seat long travel 1900lbs. Turbo charged (7lbs) acura V6.
Top speed now is 70mph, RPM drops only about 600 between shifts.
R&P 5.14
Tires 31in.
Would like top speed to be around 90-95mph.
Help/suggestions appreciated Thanks.
Ocotillo Boy
33" tires???
mkenm
33-15 blasters, but they measure 30-31 inches.

2 seat SandLimo, Mende E box, same tires, turbo Subie, weighs a little less than yours. Here is my gear stack

R&P 5:14
1 - 3.33
2 - 2.08
3 - 1.67
4 - 1.30

@ 6000 rpm speeds listed are

1 - 34
2 - 55
3 - 69
4 - 88

my old stack was

R&P - 5:14
1 - 3.33
2 - 2.08
3 - 1.50
4 - 1.18

@ 6000 rpm speed was

1 - 34
2 - 55
3 - 76
4 - 97

These # are what California Performance printed for me.

I felt it was geared too tall for 3rd & 4th. Wanted something more usable. It's a duning car not a drag or hill racer, although it does scoot.

Hope that helps

A 1.14 4th gear should get you to 94mph @ 6000 Rpm
Questions????????
what rpm do you want to shift @?
what rpm does the engine red line @?
who did the change over for you, and did you discuss your needs for gearing with them?
King Tim
when arizona transaxle did my 2d , he printed me off a graph that showed rpm at shift , mph at shift and rpm drop between shifts , that should be std. for all builders , how is the customer to know without this info ?
Punisher550
kevin mcmullen is good at this stuff for sure

I have kind of backed off of 95mph, I think I'm asking to much from a V6. So maybe 85 is more realistic.
Shifting up to 6500. I think red line on acura's are about 6600.
Wright did the change over. He said it was geared low, and that a turbo likes a load.
Told him ok but don't spread them to much. I could not detect any change at all so I don't know what happened.
So I guess this is atleast partly my fault. Invoice doesn't say what gears he put in it. Thanks

Where can i find a list of the gears available for the 2d?

Looks like your RPM drop is more from 3 to 4 than it is from 2 to 3, are you happy with that?
How do you feel about first gear to high to low just right? Thanks.
Hero
Why did you go to the 2d? Could you PM me the cost?
I personally like my ebox, but it seems like everyone that calls to buy my car want's a 2d?

1st gear may be a little low but it is just to get the car rolling so I don't pay too much attention to it. The RPM drop is ok. I am completely satisfied with the new gear stack, I can almost leave it in 3rd but I do like to keep it more in the boost range rather than lug it here and there.

Thanks for your help, This is for sure having an effect on how I'm going to gear mine.
A higher first gear was something I was thinking about and now I have an answer.
This should help bring my other gears closer. MX bikes are geared this way.
