DOES ANYONE KNOW IF THEY ARE CHECKING OR IF THEY ARE PLANNIG TO CHECK OUR BIKES DECIBLE LEVELS.
Shovel Boy
whats decible level? is that the noise? when i was their they didnt check for anything
DEEZ RACING
YES FOR THE NOISE. I KNOW THAT AT SOME PLACES IN CALI THEY ARE ALREADY CHECKING THE NOISE LEVELS AND TO SEE IF YOUR PIPES ARE USFS APPROVED.
BeachHead
What I've read is that yes, they are testing for sound levels at pismo. If a ranger hears what they consider a "loud" bike, they will test. But from what I understand, they are not doing a random, nazi-esque spot check type thing....yet.
DEEZ RACING
SWEET I AM LOOKING TO ORDER A NEW PIPE FOR MY BIKE AND I DON'T WANT TO WORRY ABOUT BEING TICKETED FOR THE NOISE LEVEL.
Shovel Boy
well how loud iis it?
DEEZ RACING
I THINK THE LAW IS 96 DB'S AND THE PIPE IS ABOUT 98 DB'S.
Shovel Boy
i wouldnt worry to much about it...theirs too many people with these hi perfomance silencers
DEEZ RACING
IM JUST GOING TO GO FOR IT AND DEAL WITH ANY SITUATIONS IF THEY ARISE AT A LATE DATE.
Shovel Boy
you will love psimo!
DannyG
Just don't ride like a wildman along the beach and you'll be fine. If they see you wheelie or go over 15mph you'll be ticketed.
bansheen250r
eff pismo it sucks worse than the baby dunes in g its all chop it was a waste of a 8 hour drive for me !
SHOCKER
I might go during the summer, my bike is over 100 db's, you also need a spark arrestor, i have one but it doesnt make much of a difference with the noise, do you have to re jet your bike when you go up there?
hondaryder
eww dont waste your time in dismal..it SUCKS there..unless you like having your bike rust together...lol..if you are goin to spend the $$ to go riding, might as well make it a good trip...to GLAMIS! woo
DEEZ RACING
WELL PISMO IS ABOUT AN HOUR AND A HALF FROM ME AND GLAMIS IS ABOUT 5 HOURS FROM ME. SO IM SURE ILL HIT PISMO ABOUT 5-6 TIMES A YEAR AND GLAMIS ABOUT 1-2 TIMES PER YEAR.
Shovel Boy
I dont know what everyone else is talking about, i think pismo rox!
SHOCKER
Its a little hot to go to glamis or any dunes near san diego during the summer, pismo is on the beach and is dunes, and its not 115 degrees
stonehenge
The rust issue with a bike or quad is not a big deal if you stay out of the surf and do some pre-maint stuff and lots of post cleaning, and maybe cover your stuff at night. But in the summer when its blaz'n hot in G, Pismo is a nice break. But if you bring jet skiis like we do its a blast. We ride in the waves and use the quads for a quick dune fix. Yes its a small choppy over-patroled sand box, but still fun. The point about speeding/wheelie's on the beach is right on the money, dont do it. And if you want to keep the rangers out of your camp leave the fireworks and firebombs at home, trust me on this one.
DannyG
Stonehenges whole post is right on the money. Pismo is amazing. Just the camping on the beach part is awesome. Throw in some ridable sand and you've got a fun time. You wont catch me there in the winter time. In the middle of summer when your missing Glamis the most head up to Pismo and get your sand fix. Spray all the rustable parts on your bike with WD40 and wash it real good when you get home.
DEEZ RACING
All is true, and the only people that i have met that don't like Pismo, especially when Glamis is 11o degree are the ones who have never been to Pismo. Either that or they are petrafied of the ocean. Truthfully you can't knock anyone for prefering one place over another to ride. As long as your having fun thats all that matters.
BeachHead
Pismo and G are truly two different worlds. Pismo a great place for a family quad vacation in the middle of the long, hot summer. The rust is not really that big of a deal as long as you stay out of the water.

Pismo cannot even begin to compare to G with regard to the dunes, especially after the eco-nazi's have had their way with it. It used to be about 10 times as large as it is now, and was a very popular place.

But where else can you literally camp at the edge of the ocean and ride your sand toys? Run out of something? Drive down the beach a mile and a half, and you're in town. Wanna go out for dinner...no big deal. Want to do something other than dune? (why I don't know) you're close to a lot of different things.

Pismo isn't perfect. But if you've never been there, you should try it once. You can rent quads on the beach if you're worried about the rust. If nothing else, go to see just what devastation the eco-nazi's can have on your favorite off road place. Just look how much of Glamis those terrorists have shaved away. Imagine how it would look the size of pismo. Pismo should be experienced just to know and understand why we must all work together to stop the tireless march of the misguided eco-nazi storm troopers on the shifting sands of our play box.
SHOCKER
Its a place to ride during summer, it may not be perfect but o well who cares you guys can stay home and I will go ride at pismo, thx for those who gave info and no thx to the peeps who say pismo sucks
Xtreme Motorsports
Well i have to say that this year will be our 27th annual trip to pismo. I've seen it go from 15,000 acres to 1,500 acres. I can tell you that Pismo is absolutely awesome! We never have a rust problem because we stay out of the ocean and cover our stuff at night. My fathers trailer is over 20 years old (original alpha toy house), has over 50 trips to pismo over the years and looks great. Too, you can't stereo type Pismo as being only for Bikes / Quads. We take long travel V8 cars over there all the time for testing and delivery.

Although you can't drive for 15 hours and never see the same thing, you can camp on the beach, sleep with the sound of the ocean next to you, go out to dinner and a movie, go get a Starbucks every morning and get an egg mcmuffin and have pizza delivered to your trailer. Pismo definielty has it's up sides.
DEEZ RACING
NOW I HAVE BEEN TO PISMO MAY TIMES, BUT I NEVER KNEW YOU COULD GET PIZZA DELIVERED TO YOUR TRAILER. WHO DELIVERS IT AND HOW DO I GET IT.
DannyG
Thats pretty cool. This year we are doing our 2nd annual Pismo trip from July 14 till 18.

Technical it's not right to your door. You will have to walk down to the water because they don't want to get stuck. Too, if the river is high you will hvae to pick it up at the guard shack.

It's that pizza place right across from Kregan. Kragen is next to Taco Bell on Grand. I can't remember the name but it has an italien name??????

I think of it in a little while and let you know.

DEEZ RACING
THANKS THAT WOULD BE SWEET. I DON'T MIND A FEW NIGHTS OF BBQ, BUT I WOULDN'T MIND SOME PIZZA EITHER.
