I have invested in a mechanical oil pump/cooler set up and wanted to share pics of the install, this setup is more costly than the electric pump but requires no wiring, it's a lot smaller, and is always working. For some buggy manufacturers it would require you to move the tranny back but the extra spacing is minimal. The MSRP of the pump is $695 installed. It required a small modification to the pinion gear so it needs to happen before the tranny build. I've heard some say that you shouldn't turn on an electric pump when the oil is cold because it doesn't like it. I presume that it's the "electric pump" that doesn't like it, the mechanical version won't care. This system, filters my oil and sprays the cool, returned oil onto 2nd and 3rd gears. This is a practical install for severe duty conditions, you can see more pics of the install in the "Funco Gen 5 hd build" found in Sandrail Tech Forum. In a Mid engine car you could change the returned oil to spray on the pinion gear
