I'm sure this could be a lot of things buttttttt. I have a 1989 FW south wind with a 454 and 49k miles. For some reason sometimes I cant even hear my self talk when driving this thing sounds like a extra loud fan is on or its stuck in a low gear. Wierd thing is it goes along fine but stays loud for ever and it sucks. Even will shift or turn on when I am going down hill.....PLEASE HELP THIS SUCKS

Is it your fan?
Dunaholic
Fan Clutch engaging, it makes the fan spin faster to help cool the motor when under a load.
HOGDUNER
replace the fan clutch
ehall

Do yourself a favor and find the best price on a factory oem one as the aftermarket ones tend to be too agressive and put you in the same boat and may be what you have allready. I have also had bad luck with the aftermarket ones flinging all of the fluid out of themselves in a short time.

I would of said go electric...
Save horsepower and gas..

I had an 88 Pace Arrow and it did the same thing. But I notice you are from Phx as am I and there is probably nothing wrong with your fan. When Its over 105+ its gonna stay engaged or you going to overheat. The electric fans might be a bit quieter.

Fan clutch, when it stops making noise you are in deep poo. Insulate the engine cover. Electric will not work.
