That looks awful big for a helmet style. How many watts?
Trailtech makes a 13W version that's really small, $99 ea. and the ballast is inside the housing.

The bulb housing is all aluminum so weight is not a problem - I will only wear it at night

Pepe Cuervo, that was funny man!!
Hey ls1, nite rider makes a system like that for about $140.
Last time I checked, they were working on something that would run off the bike voltage supply.
I like the fact that you actually took the time to design it. Cool!!

A little bulkie but cool. I would like to have some HID's but how would you hook it up to a two stroke without a battery...
i used to own a Nite Rider helmet light that flat out rocked for how small it was. But the high beam on my 86 R gets it pretty good so i sold it on ebay.

THERE WAS AN ARTICAL IN DIRT WHEELS FEB 1996 PG 35, ON A HELMET LIGHT/ NAVIGATION (COMPASS) SYSTEM THAT A BRUCE COPELAND DEVELOPED. IT WAS CALLED A COPELAND HELMET NAVIGATOR. WAS COOL. HE WAS LOOKING FOR BACKERS AND SOMEONE TO MASS-PRODUCE IT. HE WAS LOOKING TO GET IT OUT FOR UNDER $200. THEY HAD HIS ADDRESS AS 3165 MT. ACMAR CT. SAN DIEGO, CA. 92111.

HA2, the lights on the bike are good (specially aftermarket) when you ride on flat terrains.
But like AP said, with the helmet light, you have vision wherever your eyes are pointing to. But yeah, if you are riding next to someone and turn around to look at him, he may be in deep shhhhhh. Blinded~!!!!! big time.
That may be a good thing

he he.

You would have to get a rectifier i think this changes AC to DC then run it through a transformer to get the right voltage. I think a company makes a kit to so all of this.

This is the main reason I built this unit. Dunes at night create lots of shadows when the light is below your eyesight because of the sharp crests. This light solves that problem and also lets you see 5x longer than with the standard setup.

I bought them together for $61 then i bought the reflector from suvlights.com
Look for a D2s bulb and ballest that is factory OEM equiptment. The conversion kits are(In my opinion)more ricky to invest in.
