I'm looking to purchase a superglide hitch for a Chevy shortbed, looking at 37-39 ft weekend warriors. I'm guessing 18-20K, would 18K be large enough.

Thanks
Matt

18 is plenty....i have the older 16K model....same hitch but different load range...they stopped making the one that I have and only make the 18K and 20K. you should be fine with room to spare with an 18K.....39 footer if i remember correctly is a GVWR of 17,000 so you're cool. By the way the superglide is the only way to go with a shortbed....i love mone....never a question...

I have a beter way!! the problem with a super glide is, first you can only have your trailer pulled with someone with the same hitch, second you need to rent a crane or a big fork lift to get it out of your truck, and third is the price, I will attache a link and picture witch is the ultimate way to tow a 5th with a shortbed. I can jack nife the truck and not every worry about the bed hitting, you can use any 5th hitch. it is Fith-Airborn-sidewinder Hitch, it swivels at the trailer not in the bed, but the weight is still forward of the rear wheel. If you dont want the airbag you can find them cheap, but the air ride make it nice on dirt roads. I have used this for 2 years and they are Great!!

Superglide you use a capture plate held in place on the 5th wheel with a simply allen key.
If a different hitch is going to tow your ring you simply remove the capture plate.

Simi RV sold us an 18K super glide installed for 1/3 less than all the other bids we got.
The highest bids we got were from SSSS vendors claiming they are the cheapest.

Our super glide has been ( @ Y @ ), no issues at all. They make them up to 20K cap.

What ever you do, get a hitch with the automatic features like the Superglide and get the biggest capacity you can afford.

neat adapter. i will be purchasing a 5th wheel soon and was worried about the turning with my shortbed. i have seen a gooseneck adapter with 3 airbags and it also put the hitch further out of the pin which would move the trailer away from my cab too. hmmmm decisions decisions.
