I've got to make it up there this summer, worst trip ever last time kinda jinxed it in my mind...anyone know what you have to do to camp up there? Permits, fees, who to ask?

Killer riding, if only an acre and a half of it...

You do need a permit and maybe a reservation depending on the time you go. Here is some info.

it sells out all summer on weekends but rarely this time of year. you get reservations at www.reserveamerica.com but it shouldn't be a problem right now, just pay your six bucks a nite at the gate. we got a lot of rain last week and the river has been pretty nasty, you may be looking like you avitar as you go thru.
jim at www.oceanodunes.org answers questions fast on the forums, may want an update on the stream before you leave.

Sand Bagger, steveoknevo - Thanks for the links. This'll make it a ton easier on me, I was figuring I'd need to have my reservations in soon if I was gonna make it out this summer. Will talk to the wife and get this handled...anyone up for a big GD.com run sometime late August?

I will be at pismo 18th to the 21st..
just pay at the gate and camp between marker 2 thru 7.
around marker 5 and 6 seem to be good.
camp more towards the dunes so you don't get wet at high tide.

DS650....Pismo is a "primitive" camping area..just like Glamis. It's very similar to Gecko..space hogs and idiots abound. I'm sure it's even worse now that they have crammed everyone in between pole 2 and pole 6 for some stupid bird that junk science managed to get placed on the endangered species list. Get there around low tide to make it easier to get down the beach. Do not speed on the beach! The revenue generators love to give you tickets. And definitely camp above the high tide line..
