Not a recipe but very important now that I have this beautiful new stove. I have looked at cleaners and such but want to know if any one has any ancient Chinese secrets on what to use when cleaning an oven and stove range. What cleaners and what cleaning tools are best. I don't want to scratch the surface. The mid burner is a long griddle type. I LOVE this oven. Its the first one I ever bought. smile.gif

I made bruchetta the other day..I roasted the tomatoes and carmelized the onions while also using raw ingredients too. Pretty good for my first time and winging it too. laughing.gif

My dishwasher cleans my oven. She also mops the floor and vacuums. Usually right after making me a delicious meal, fetching me a beer and giving me Chef.gif

Get yourself a girlfriend. That's the right way to clean an oven/stove.
zilla68
heck no, girlfriends are too expensive, just clean it yourself.

We have a self cleaning oven, wife decides to set it, just like JD said, 2 hours, well those things get crazy hot inside and she left the boil over from something she made in there without cleaning it up, and well lets just say, the fire department told her not to cook again until they were off shift! Smoke filled house, burned my dang eyes for 2 days.
Glad we don't depend on her domestic skills to survive on!!!!!!!

So note to self cleaning ovens, at least get the residual off the bottom before self cleaning!!!!!!
socaldmax
Does she use the smoke alarm as a cooking timer?
zilla68
now that's daymed funny right there, I will bring it up next time she burns us dinner, I mean cooks us dinner.
what was funny, is that the alarms are all going off in the house, the security monitoring company is calling me at work, I am freaking out thinking the house is burning down, I can't get ahold of her, and my 8yr old son runs to the garage and gets a fire extinguisher, hands it to mom, and she says, HOW THE HELL DOES IT WORK!!!!!!!!!!, as the stuff in the bottom of the oven is flaming up, meanwhile the fire department shows up, she is in her pj's, hair is all messed up, police roll out also, and she is so pissed off she can't see straight.

I finally get ahold of her and laughed my arse off at her!
Shelvis
read your owners manual for recommendations Sharon! only use non abrasive cleaners and tool on it! Clean it often.....don't let spills sit!

That reminds me of my first wife!

I worked on a small island, and I took a boat to/from work. Policy was, if you got called away, don't bother coming back that day due to the time lost back and forth on the 2nd boat trip.

So my wife developed this bad habit of leaving the keys in the car and locking herself out at the gas station. She filled up once very 10 days like clockwork. I get a call from her while I'm at work to come rescue her and bring the other set of keys. After this happens a couple of times, I start getting frustrated (how hard is it not to lock oneself out of the car??) and my coworkers start jokingly accusing me of staging this to get out of work. That pisses me off even more.

After the 2nd call from her, I start giving her a hard time about brain damage, she should surrender her driver's license, carry a spare key, start an affair with a locksmith (or car thief), walk home and leave the car there, hire a driver...

I even passed the phone around so the coworkers could grill her about whether this was legit or not. We thought it was quite funny. Apparently, she was missing the humor chromosome. laughing.gif

Ahhh, women. Entertaining on so many levels. One with a sense of humor is priceless.

When my son started driving , he would lock his keys in his car while at work ( swing shift) Afte about 3 trips there late at night I put a hide akey box on the fender well. A week later he calls locked out , told him where to look for his spare key . Never got that call again.

Gee thanks GUYS.. laughing.gif I'll think I'll just use my old fashioned way of soapy warm water and a rag. I'm just overly protective of my new gas oven. I always lay a bit of tin foil down at the bottom for spills. Cept I didn't do it on this new oven yet and wouldn't ya know??? Spillage! DRAG!

And if all that don't work I'll just borrow DG's GF pgrin.gif

Tonight I made Sgetti and garlic bread (actually english muffin). I mixed the butter with the garlic BEFORE putting it on the bread. topped it with a bit of oregano and pepper. It was delish facelick.gif

I purchased a generic over cleaner spray when we lived in our old apartments in Arizona and it sucked big time. I then bought Easy Off and it worked great. Just need heat up the oven to 300 degrees per the directions, spray the Easy Off and let it sit a bit, then wipe off with a wet sponge or cloth. Make sure you wear rubber gloves though or it will eat the skin off your hands blink.gif

And thanks a lot! This thread is reminding me that I need to clean the oven in our new apt wife.gif
wopachop
what you do is throw ole motor in there. couple days with no food and he will eat every last bit of charcoal niblets in there. washwife.gif
