My older Tracvision L3 won't lock on to a signal, just spins on roof. Any help would be appreciated before I take it to the only people left in SoCal that are authorized to work on it.

Mine did that too
try a few things
first power off reciever and satelite, wait a few minutes. Then power up the satelite first allow it to boot, u will hear it spin and then wait. Now u can power up the reciever.
Thus should lock u on.

If this doesn't work snd you want to get technical and if you have the manual. It will tell u what satelitte you should be locked on. Then you have to doenloadvthe software from KVH hook your laptop up to the com port (should be by the power switch of the satelitte. Launch the program and it is self explanatory from there.

Although with all that said your dish may have come mis alligned meaning it really should be serviced by a tech.
