You can buy anything bandit.gif there....and then have a fantastic meal listening to great music.

They have all the cookware, propane burners, stands and equipment to cook carnitas.

(I have also seen same items at most Swapmeets, like Santa Fe Springs off the 5 fwy.)

Let us know!

Thanks for the hookup, I called and after not getting very far with the girl I had my housekeeper call. The number that was given is for one of the kitchen areas. She gave us another number which is in charge of all the shops. We called that and the girl spoke good english. Turns out its a bunch of little shops. And she does remember seeing pots and etc in the different stores for Carnitas. They are open from 9am-9pm. Going to check it out tomorrow. Again thanks!!

Its not one store like a Kohl's . . . laughing.gif

Best way to describe it is an Indoor Swapmeet with 3 levels.

Little shops stuffed in every corner, nook and cranny.

Don't eat before you go.......Fresh Pan Dulce, Mex Candy, Tacos, Tamales, Elotes, EVERYTHING!

Well thanks to Crusty not even 10 mins into the place we found just what we were looking for. There were probably 4 or 5 places that sold the burners with the stainless steel pots, and only 2 that I was able to find selling the copper pots(which are pretty heavy guage). If anyone else is interested in getting the setup like mine, the guy downstairs orig. started at $235 for everything, didnt take much haggling to see him come down to $200. The girl on the 2nd floor was selling them for $145 for everything. Thanks again!!!

I use my turkey fryer to make carnitas. Heat up the oil, drop in an onion and some fresh garlic. Once the oil is at its needed tempt drop in the meat. After about 30 minutes, add some fresh orange juice, a few cans of pepsi or coke, some honey, and salt.

post a picture of said carnitas please!

i have not made carnitas in so long. i learned how to make alot things when i worked in a mexican restaurant when i was a teenager.

we didnt have the big copper cauldrons, but we did have these huge huge pots to make it in. if i remember right, we would dump in a whole block of lard, think it was 40 pounds? heat the lard to about 350*. in mean time, we would get a large bowl, and put in milk and orange juice, some salt and pepper, and whisk it up. once the oil was up to temp, we would dip the meat in the bowl of "juice", then carefully put the meat in the pot. think we would cook it for like 3-4 hours this way? again, its been a long time. the meat would be mega crispy outside once done, and so tender on the inside.

dang, im hungry now...may have to head to northgate and get some fresh out the fryer on a sunday am..

I plan on it, got my practice in the desert yesterday up at my parents house in Pinion Hills. Turned out great. Was just having issues with the wind up there blowing the damn flame out. They get some ridiculous wind swirls and gusts in the afternoon.

thats a nice little setup there

I have a couple I had for like 20 years about the same size in your pic. There is a guy that sets up in TJ just as you get off the toll road on your way back to SD that has been there like forever, thats where i bought mine, but they were like $25 and they are the thick heavy copper kind. Raw Copper has gone way up in price over the years. I make Pozole in mine
