My son's 300ex lost compression, after we took it to the dealer he had to take pictures of the cylinder and send them to Honda because he could not identify the cause of the piston melting to the cylinder wall. The bike is 6 months and one week old and the warrenty is 6 months. The dealer said that the top end did not show any signs of wear and the oil was alittle low but that could of happened when the piston went. Honda said that it was over heated or over reved and they are not going to give any assistance on the repair. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do or do I just eat the costs.
Thanks

It seems the dealer has an edge on this one.
But I would call Honda directly and at least find out if 6 months is really the allowed warranty.

Some dealers are pretty cool and would mingle with the purchase date to give you a break and force the warranty to honor the issue. But then again, some dealers are a pain in the ass to deal with.

If this was a safety issue, you could defenitely do something about it even after the warranty expires.

Call Honda, it doesn't hurt to ask.

Good Luck.

This is my 13 year old's bike and he has been riding other quads for 3+ years.
