I am not sure about the Cummins but, I just bought one for my 2006 Fleetwood Excursion. It has the Cat C7 350hp. It is going to be a real nuckle beater to get to the wire harness and connect it up. Mine is supposed to add 90hp and 300lbs of torque on the #3 position. I will get mine on soon and let you know. I was told from a few different shops you can notice the chip the most on the Cummins engines. Let me know how yours goes if you get one...

I put a +35hp-70Tq Vanaaken box made specifically for Motorhomes on my ISB 5.9 Cummins and it made a huge difference especially towing. Be careful, motorhomes are so heavy that its hard to keep the exhaust temps down. I talked to BD Performance and they said I cant go anymore without hurting it. I think banks makes some stuff for the 8.3 cummins.
Dont even think of doing it without installing guages if you dont already have them. Banks makes an Exhaust temp guage with a 50-60' wire on the sending unit. They are calibrated for the extra length of wire.

Thanks!! Yes Banks does make a kit for the 8.3, but not my year for some reason?? I had them put me on a list of they developed it. There Stinger kit included a new turbo and everything, I am sure it was $$$$$$
I am also assuming that this will actually make my RV run cooler (not working as hard) but yes now I would need to install a EGT gauge.......(why the heck don't ALL DIESELS come with an EGT gauge?)
Thanks for the info!!

I did see a few kits out there for this engine, but like to hear from other folks as well on this before installing one.. esp on such an expensive engine

Call TST products. They don't have one listed but they don't do a great job with there website. Call them and ask. They make the highest quality products on the market. I have ran there 60 series Detroit, and 5.9 Cummins stuff for years.
I would try to find something better than Banks if you can. There stuff seems to work good but the chinese circuit boards don't always hold up well, at least that has been my experience.
Take the muffler off and replace it with a free flowing one to help lower your EGT.

What horsepower is it now?
Cummins offers an emergency vehicle 8.3 up to 350 h.p. last time I checked. If your arrangement is close you may be able to make some improvements with factory parts.

Its 360 HP now, I found a kit from US Diesel Chips that SAYS it can do up to 30% more HP has as selector for stock, 15% and 30%.. but like I say id like to do a chip someone has done before.....

Careful with these power upgrades without putting larger capacity radiator and fans.

Mine is a PDQ Blixcat 100. I am trying to find a guy that owns a shop out of state for you to call. I called him and he said all the chips are pretty much the same. They all change the boost and fuel signals to the computer. He installs alot and he even has a dyno to show the improvement. He says on the Cat t is tuned very low at the factory and is very safe and he has never seen a problem. I didn't ask to much about the Cummins he just said they put down more after the chip. His website has a picture of a Cummins DP on the dyno.
I will let you know if I find it.

I getting ready to put a Aeroturbine 5050XL muffler on mine to help with the EGT and boost HP, I have heard there only slightly louder than stock. The have a monster straight through with a built in resonator that alot of people use. Also hop on IRV.com they have alot of response on this subject form actual users.

How are you getting around the sensors on the DPF? I would love to put a muffler on with less back pressure. I have an '08 ISB 6.7 Cummins and would really see the benefit from this mod even without the "chip". I am also interested in a chip for mine as well.

I found out where my module plugs into, only to find out I have the wrong plug. Mine is the new style and they are shipping it out today. I will let you know if I feel a difference.
Also I have a 2006 W/Cat C7 350hp it doesn't have a DPF, so a new muffler is next.

I finally put my chip in and tried it out. It definatly pulls harder up to 60mph. I have it on the lowest setting, but its still noticable. No smoke either. I will get to try it out next week on the way to Glamis and I'll let you know if there is an increase in fuel milage.

The chip definatley adds HP / torque. I have it on the lowest setting and is noticable at take off and while cruising at 65mph. It doesn't down shift unless going up a steep grade. I didn't really push it hard on the big hill going into Yuma on I-8 because I don't have guages and didn't want to tear it up. No check engine lights have come on and milage seemed to go up some but I didn't reset the trip when I filled up.

Sounds like you're in the San Diego area. I heard there was a Cummins shop in El Cajon with Master Mechanics on board that I'm sure could help. If you know of, or find them let me know. I just bought an 05 American Eagle and need some service work done.
Good luck

I happened to be at a cat dealer and a Cummins dealer today and the subject of chipping the ISC 8.3 Cummins is a REALLY bad idea. Both dealerships shop foremen told me the same thing and that is most if not all of these coaches are at bare minimum under cooed as far as capacity. You increase heat and EGt you create extreme problems. As I am currently spending a boatload of cash on a upper rebuild on a 8.3 with 26k miles on it I would not focus on more power but am focusing on how to get clean air into the engine from a poor design of an air intake right down and behind the rear tires. The silt we run through and the dust retardant that is being used on a lot of these dirt roads is a death sentence to these motors. It looks like I am switching over to a Donaldson air filter box to quell the issue and will update as it goes. I mean at 400 HP and 1280 Ft lbs of torque how much more do you want? I pull a 30 ' trailer and it pulls and goes down the road as fast as i want to run in 70' of equipment, just sayin.

Hey Terry
Ill call u later on that air box. Is your Moho still at JW?
When I opened this thread I was unsure my Moho could tow my stacker. I have to say I don't have that worry it does just fine.
Thanks

Motor home is at Cummins on Losee rd. The trailer is almost ready at Johnie Walker's and I should be able to pick it up on Friday. The web site for the air filters is;
http://www.donaldson.com/en/engine/support...rary/034267.pdf There web site Donaldson.com has a ton of info on it. Most important thing in the air box replacement is finding out what CFM the engine must have at a constant speed @2200 RPM's. You can get that from your engine manufacter. Having your engine # or Vin # really helps when you call Cummins or cat.. Glad to hear the stacker is working out for you. I am depressed
about spending the coin to get my rig fixed but am more bummed that I am missing the heart of the season. Oh well maybe Santa will bring me a winning lottery ticket.
