We're assembling the CV's and axles today and had a couple of questions for you pros.

When I bought the CV's the salesman at McKenzies Off-Road sold me (1) tube of greease and a small can of Assembly lube.
Is (1) tube of greease going to be enough to install ALL 4 CV's ??? I always thought you had to pack the CV boot full of greease but this (1) tube only lasted enough to basically pack the CV's.

What's your guys input? Thanks

This pic was taken right before we cleaned up the threads and excess greese all over the place

You don't need to pack the boots, just the CV's. 4 CV's usually takes me 2 or so tubes since I pack the CV cups as well as the CV's.

i am no pro by any means, but i have allways packed the cv's full, then packed the boots half full and assembled. the movement of the axle and suspension will continue to move the grease around while in use. too much grease will only cause the grease to want to escape and cause a bad seal.

This info is great. Thanks! The crappy thing is.... The salesman only sold me 1 tube So I guess I'll only be using 1 tube since everybody is closed today and were already elbow deep in greese.
I would think that the guy at McKenzies KNOWS what he's talking about but man 1 tube just doesn't seem like enough.

I have been told that you can use a pneumatic grease gun with a needle. Stick the needle back in there while boot is off and this will fill your cup forcing grease to come out toward you. Wipe off excess and now your cups will be filled too.

you can fill the cup before you bolt on the cv... no need to pack the boot...

That is the messy way to do it. You have to clean the grease out of the bolt holes otherwise you are going to get grease on the threads of the bolts and they may come loose.

use the antiseize to coat the CV, then add grease to inner cup, loc tite your bolts put the cv on, finish with battery powered grease gun with needle, clean, 100% full of grease and no big azz mess.

What should I torque the CV bolts down to. 930 CV's ?

What should I torque the micro stub axle nut to???????

Go to a nut/bolt website, or type in torquing bolts in google. It should have a chart of torque values for every size nut and bolt ever made.....like 77-82 in/lbs or 50-60 ft/lbs. Those numbers are just examples so dont go troque them to that. And why not for the axle? U are already there..... beer.gif

Yes, Thanks I just checked my PM box. Thank you.
We actually did it Very clean. cleaned out all the bolt holes before we assembled them and added a drop of Red loc-tight. We just weren't sure if 1 tube was enough. Then we had a question about how many Lbs to tighten the bolts.
So far so good.
Thanks guys!!!!!!! beer.gif
