Okay, I'm over my wreck and am now ready to start putting my wife's bike back together.

I need to know of a good place in SD (it'd be really cool if it was central or east county) to buy plastics from. Also, a buddy of mine was telling me Meier (sp?) plastics are junk, that I should only go with Honduh OEM. I'm thinking this is going to cost me an arm, a leg, and 2 inches off my manhood...what do you guys think, or do you know of any other aftermarket manufacturers? Thanks...

well maier has a different finish than OEM plastics. its not as shiny and polished and OEM. it also lookis alittle grained or like it has texture to them. fullbore are nice but extremely expensive. there is a sale up at chappereal where you can get plastics erally cheap it happens once a year and you can get a full set for close to $200 give or take a few $$$. the only getter is there a HUGE crowd cuz all the deals going on at that sale.
i bought some rear fenders for an 84 honda for like $45. would have cost me like $150 for OEM.
all depends on what you want.

I hear Maier has a "NEW" OEM look plastic out that is supposed to look and feel like the originals but I haven't seen it yet.
I personally wouldn't buy it (I prefer OEM myself) but it may satisfy you and save you some money.

Okay, so the big deal with the Maier is the color, not necessarily stability? I think I can deal with them being a bit on the dull side, especially if it's gonna save me like 50% over OEM. As for the Chaparaal midnight madness gig, I don't think it's quite coming up yet, and I need these like yesterday. Thanks for the responses, both!

I have maier on my wheeler, can't beat the price. If you want a show quad, go for the full bore.

What color are you looking for?
I have a set of dark blue 400ex plastics I was thinking about selling them on ebay.
They are in really good shape.
Let me know if you are interested.
I get close to 40% off on original Honda stuff. If you don't like the blue ones I have, I may be a really cool guy and order the parts for you directly through honda.
I am putting an order for parts no later than next week. So let me know.

Sarah says she wants red or pink, maybe yellow. But how smokin' of a deal are those blue plastics? And what would I be paying for the OEM red? And if you can get pink, I might want those to stop me from riding that damn thing...like 4 of my last 5 crashes have been on my wife's bike!

From ServiceHonda the front fender is $65 and the rear is $71.
And yes Maier now is shiny and from RockyMountain is $124 for the front and $94 for the rear. Last I knew Fullbore was something like $400-500 for a full set!

Just be like me, put a 2x4 under the seat and have zero fenders!

First of all, it is "plastic", NOT "plastics"!

Why does everyone use the word plastics? I would go with the Honda OE plastic, no matter what, even if you have to buy it used.

well i think we refer to "plastics" and not "plastic" mainly becase its plural. meaning more than one. there are more than one plastic on a bike the front fenders and rear fenders are seperate so they are plastics and not plastic.

Plastic is the material they are made out of and would not be plural. They are fender
s! Front fender and rear fender for the plural fenders.
For your fuzzy logic to work you should have at least said front plastic and rear plastic.
You say plural because of more than one plastic and then call them fenders.

By your logic, english is a dead language, and no new words, terms, or phrases should ever be introduced into our language.
You're wrong - don't get me started.

They are referred to as plastics. Like Yamiboy said. It's plural. Kinda like motorcycle builders calling their fenders and shiat "tins".

Now I'm gonna go get some plastic plastics for my bike.

They are only referred to as plastics by people who have heard other people use the term incorrectly, and pick up the habit themselves.

Fixxxer78 is right, they are fenderS, or plastic partS or pieceS. Get it right!

You can call them fenders or plastics. They mean the same thing in the context of a given conversation. Think about it this way:
In reference to a 250r three wheeler, it can be called a 250, ATC, wheeler, three wheeler, all terrain cycle, tricycle and maybe some other things. The point is you would understand what is being talked about using any of these terms in the context of the conversation, and all are correct. Think about it.

Hmmmm how about we come to an agreement for those who use plastics to refer to fenders and those who refer to fenders as plastic just acknowlege that it is an interchangeable term.

I need some plastic(S) for my bike.

I agree with cj2g0 and Dune Hound.

I really don't think anybody was here to try and rag on eachother for using the improper terms. I think it was out of fun. You know how we all rag on eachother for everything. Either way, you know what we/they mean when we refer to plastics/fenders/plastic.

Let's just enjoy the sport.
Enjoy it by sending money to the rubberneck foundation of GD.com.

Ok... I lied.
