Changing the tranny fluid for the first time after two seasons and was wondering just how many metal shavings on the magnet on the drain plug is normal?

The magnet inside the drain plug is about the size of a pencil eraser and had very small shavings covering the head of the magnet. It looks to me like these would be normal wear shavings but I would like to know for sure......

I get a little bit of pubes on mine every time I change the fluid, thats why they put a magnet on it. Change the oil twice a season though, not every two years.

Metal filings is common in gear boxes the size ranges from 1/8" to 3/16" long and powder like filings.

With two seasons on the box it is up to you for a vehicle maintenance schedule, based on what you have observed and feel the car needs.
