This year I would like to dedicate a lot of my Glamis time to my family. My kids are now 5 (boy) and 6 (girl). They have matured enough now to roam around a tight camp and entertain themselves with other kids and make friends...kinda like we do except on a kid level. I really think this would be a great social experience for all of our kids and us parents. I wanted to put this out there for anybody that might be interested in getting a family type atmosphere camp group going. Our kids have ridden on the Compound kiddie track a few times last year and it was a GREAT experience for them, and for us! They really learned a lot on that track. We are not very particular on where we camp. I feel in order to get a nice tight wagon wheel going, we either gotta be in the washes or vendors...although I do enjoy the Compound on occasion and Gecko.
Here's a little about us...Both my Wife and I are 32...kids are 5 and 6. We all like to hang out by fire, BBQ is big thing, eating is great, music is good, so as long as it's not blaring, unless it's a planned party night (some of you know what that's like), all in all, just trying to entertain my entire family...kids are important.
Toy/Vehicle list: Discovery DP w/ enclosed trailer
Sandrail Fab LT buggy
Rhino, 4 seater
YFZ450 quad
Honda 400EX
Raptor 50
Raptor 80
Various RC cars and planes...(when it's Dad's time to relax)
If you are interested please post here or PM me if you would like....or even call...626-221-0665
Also, looking for ideas to keep kids entertained....outdoor movie nights, other activities..etc..
Thanks,
Frank

Sounds good to me. We have to have trips that are kiddie and family based also.
We do a lot of camping everywhere like Glamis, Ocotillo, Gorman, Calico, Big Bear ect.
Me and Suzanne are both 37 and Breanna is 8 gonna be 9 next month.
We Love all the same activities also.
Toy's:
Class A MoHo
enclosed
SCU
4 seat Rhino
LTZ 400, 250, 90
And daddy has a Traxxas Revo also

Sounds like a good match Frank. Kids can play, Wifeys can do girl talk and we can talk about guns and toys when it's not group time.

We are in the same boat... wife and I are 31 and 29 with a 4 and 2 year old. We go out for family time... we don't drink and have a blast in the sand/dirt. I've met you and your family, Frank, and top notch... our kids played for a bit and look forward to it again!

We camp in the pound for the safety for the kids and social aspect, plus my 4 year old started riding the atc70 last season so I plan on getting her on it more this season. Keep us posted on what you decide... I am not a Gecko fella but can do the washes.
We also camp lots of other places (Johnson Valley, Ocotillo, etc).
Toy's: Dodge Ram 2500, MegaLite 23' tow behind, YFZ450 and 4 seater Rhino, atc 70 and crf50. I can't sit down for very long so I play with lots of toys (Guns, paintball, rc cars, rockets, kites, and anything else the kids enjoy).

We dont drink either and that's sometimes uncomfortable for us because sometimes people get pretty plastered and loud and obnoxious.
Me and Suzanne can play at young kiddies level well and easily as well as have adult conversations with the best of them but sometimes drinking can get out of hand and it's very hard to relate. We are not against alcohol but at a certain point it's no place for kids or us.

Thats a big one too. Breanna is VERY well behaved and mannered. Very polite, considerate little girl and some of her friends at school are out of control and it makes it that much harder to instill manners.

I think this is a great thread!
My wife and I are both 35 with 2 children of ages 4 and 1. The group we have been involved with for years is a older group with no young children. Makes it a little tough when they want to hang out at Boardmanville all afternoon till dark.
My wife really isnt the biggest fan of this sport so maybe introducing her to other families with children is just the ticket!

Me neither. Breanna is allergic to Red dye. Stuff makes her CRAZY. We spend MANY hours reading labels to make sure she does not eat it. You would be amazed the stuff that has red dye in it.
Every couple weeks we will take her to ColdStone for Ice cream. Everytime its the same. After about 4 or 5 bites she starts TALKIIIING and jibber jabbering just from the sugar intake. By the time we get back in the truck she is rolling around on the back seat just cracking up and telling goofy jokes only she understands.
Me and Suzanne figured it out one time and we just looked at each and laughed and said at the same time that we feel like desingated drivers

Funny as heck.....gotta see it. All 3 of us crack up all the way home. All 3 of us laughing at the same thing......HER

I hear ya brotha! Shes a trooper and loves the Dez but she is coming around real slow to the sand thing. She volunteers a LOT of time at the school and is waaaaay more comfy around kids and wifey talk than the check out my supercharger or throw me another beer talk.

This is a great thread!!!!
My name is Lori and my husband is Robert we are both 35.
We have 2 kids boy thats 6 and girl thats 10. We have never had a group to camp with that has had
kids,my kids are always wanting to find other kids to ride with.
We really value family time in the dunes,I don't drink but my husband drinks occasionally.
We like camping in the washes
Son has a 80 raptor
Daughter has a 70 eton
We have a t4bb
golf cart
gmc 2500 4x4
Another reason we would like to find people to camp with is so we can have people to dune with.
We are going out for halloween oct 29-nov 1st, If a group gathers by then we would love to join.

We never brought the kids with us till last year to the dunes. I'm Eddee, 36 and Ann is 33. My oldest daughter is 15 and my other two are 2 and 6 months. We only brought the kids out to El Mirage and Octillo. Would like to start bringing them out with us, but most of the people we go to Glamis with don't have kids and like to party. I'm all for people wanting to party and have a good time, but not around my kids. Will keep an eye on this thread to hook-up with some new families this year. Also looking to go out to Johnson Valley this year, so keep me updated on trips.

Frank I have been to your house twice now picking up parts but havent got to meet you. I have met OB at the drags & silverwood.
I am Todd 38, Wife is Kelly 41, Two girls are 7&12.
We camp at Glamis North KOA, OW, Glamis Wash 6,9,10. We normally camp in a group of 3-4 with other kids and we Bring the cones and make our own place for the kids to ride around our camp with an EZ up for the parents to supervise. We like washes 6-9 so we can back up to the baby dunes to keep people from blazing thru camp.

I also enjoy flying Rc Helis(just dont get around to it much) Great idea Frank, should think of a name to call the family get togethers and can post it every time one is coming up. I am very protective of my kids and won't put them in harms way... bad things tend to find you when your plastered, so we try to keep the kids away from that stuff. I am not against alcohol but I feel very strongly about people that drink too much around my children. Seems a lot of people's lives revolve around the stuff, so we have a tough time finding friends that are responsible and hold the same values... we (my wife and I) pretty much live our lives around our kids. Sounds like we have that in common... maybe a good ole GD.com gathering for all these people is in order, it would be fun to get the kids together.

I really want this year in Glamis to be a very memorable one for us all! I am researching to purchase a projector and screen to put outside for movies and trying to come up with different ideas for more entertainment for our kids/families...heck even adults would enjoy an outdoor movie night, or even games etc...if anyone has ideas please post.
Anyway, post where you're from and maybe we can plan something before the first trip...LOL...even would be funny if we come up with our own crew name...

We are not to particular on where we camp, only that it is safe for the little ones, our group has been torn apart due to the economy so we are always interested in meeting nice families that share our interests. Thats what this site is all about. Our first big trip will be the weekend after Halloween Thursday to Sunday.

We should have a name and start a section in connections deticated to these types of trips. My vote is "Family First" Camp

I guess you could say I'm a kid... never afraid to race Franks daughter around the camp... Funny thing is she beats me everytime!!

Honestly Frank has got to be the MOST family oriented guy I know... I would say the only thing that sets us apart is our lack of kids... but we still love camping together, bbqing it up... sometimes drinking, sometimes not... I know Summer would LOVE to join this group!!! Her kids are top notch forsure and so are her hubby herself!!
I can't say I'm totally able to fit in, but wouldn't mind a weekend of kids gone crazy camp!!
I remember coming out since I was a kid, and my dad made it always so special for us!! I'm glad all of you remember the core values of family and make sure to INCLUDE your children in all you do rather than just leaving them with someone so you can have fun!!
