Better deal than my GF got. She just bought a pass a week or so ago for full price.
Now that she has her own truck she plans on spending a lot of evenings out at Buttercup to watch the sunset and wanted her own pass so she wouldn't have to keep borrowing mine. I told her to just wait till next year at this point but she's adamant that she'll be out enough to make it worthwhile

Damn I love her

Any woman who loves the dunes enough to feel buying a pass in March is worth it because she'll still get enough use out of it is tops in my book

And Oh, by the way... I'm fairly certain that re-selling a pass is against the law.... But, a cool idea!
Now, start watching for the pass scalpers!

I'm not sure on the reselling. The text on the passes and in the federal register only says that it's non transferable while inside the recreation area.
No mention is made about the legality of transfering ownership of the pass while outside the recreation area. And since the BLM stopped taking names to go with the passes this year...it seems they'd have a REALLY hard time proving who originally bought what pass.

Yikes, what a scary thought! Of course, that could only if the bad guys win and we have capacity limits set
grrrrrrrrr

If they do implement capacity limits i doubt they will be selling annual passes. I would picture it being more like state beaches first come first serve. |
Could be.
But don't forget the "pilot" reservation system that will be started once the RAMP is in place. If successful it will grow. "Success" is not defined of course, so it's open to interpretation.
If tons of money gets generated, is that successful?
If a reservation system limits the number people playing in our (anti-access alleged) "sensitive" dune system, is that successful?
Sorry... got off subject a bit.
I was really just commenting that scalping won't happen until the number of passes sold is limited.
Now... it's entirely possible that if the permits required to ride in the "adaptive management area" require an additional fee, those could be easily sold to the highest bidder.
Oh yeah, that's right... that's one of the considerations for that reservation system I mentioned so why wouldn't "they" decide to make it so?
*sigh*

wait until the reservation system is going...then you'll have to make your plans SEVEN months in advance to get reservations like at pizmo..I had to make 4th of july reservations in JANUARY!! Yep...reservations will really be fun.
not!!!

Whatever happened to the land of the free?
Eff democrats, greenies( wannabe hippies) and the rest of those effen enviro whack jobs.
The preach non-violence, and want to rid the world of pollution, and then go burn down new housing complexes being built, or throw paint all over new SUVS at dealerships
Effen hypocrites, Cant wait for the next enviro rally to go and have some fun, got a group of people that would love to meet them

Sorry about that...
That's short for "Recreation Area Management Plan" which is the document that will manage the workings of Glamis for 10-15 years after it's put in place.

Not sure Troy, I didn't look. She got it from the camp hosts at Buttercup so she didn't have to mail in the little slip or anything....so it could be from a stack that's been sitting there for awhile.
I'll check the number next time I'm in her truck.

when i bought mine at the SSSS i got a phone call about 2 weeks later they made a mistake but they questioned my wife that bought it somebody else with the same last name gave a b/s credit card and bad ph # i think thats b/s but it shows that they do know who bought what pass they wanted to confirm the one that i had with the credit card my wife used to pay for it.
